just pointing out that Nissan part is loads money, generic that does the same job peanuts, Rick

Cheers Rick :thumb2 Juts looks like lot of hard work looking at the plugs and how tight they are down there etc, I'd be sure to make a hash of it :doh

James is sending me one out as I the this e-mail :thumb2

Been out to the car again on my lunch, I was a bit worried it was going to be wiring or something else when the new Relay from James gets here so I decided to get the multi meter out again and confirmed I had 12v to the 2 plugs on the underside of the relay (ones an earth)

So wiring up to the relay is pukka :thumb2

Has to be the relay then right?

maybe, but it could also be a bad wire connection between the relay and the plugs, if your relay is clicking and from what I saw of your pic of the internals, then a bad connection is on the cards, if it is not clicking then yes relay, Rick

Right so fitted relay on my lunch today and whilst I was plugging the three wires into the back of it, the one just crumbled to pieces in my hand

As you can see, the cable inner has oxidised and has totally rotted away however if bent into the right position it would give 12v on the multimeter :doh

Luckily I asked James to cut me off the connectors as well with the Relay, good job I did, little DIY with a block and I was ready to rock and roll again

Wrapped it all up in insulation tape to keep it clean and clear of any crap and voila, relay was clicking dead loud again, lights were dimming in the car when it did and more importantly the Bus Bar was showing 12v when it sould have :thumb2

Job Done and case closed, I will keep an eye on in though

Just jumped in the car to go to work.

Turned key, allowed relay to click, started perfect

Fixed!!!!

Great news banshee, well done. Have to say though when the weather gets warmer you may be better soldering that joint rather than leaving chocolate block but it's up to you.

I'll leave it in place and see how I get on, I'm crap at soldering that kind of stuff :/, I'd rather pull the whole wiring loom out and replace it than solder that back together

Result and Rick was on the money again :thumb2

Soldering is easy and will give a much better joint than that temporary bodge...get it done properly :augie

When it's warmer solder the joint & use some heat shrink to cover it:thumb2 I wonder if that plug was to sole cause of your starting problem:augie
