Also if you are not experienced at stripping and re building box's then you are highly likely to do far more harm than good, for the rebuild a good many special tools will be required, most can be fabricated but some are not so easy, as I have yet to do a T2 box I do not have first hand, but have stripped and rebuilt very many box's most on heavy trucks, Rick

I was with banshee until I read this above, great idea to renew aged parts wether failed or not, 15 years old vs new is a clear winner, however having seen ricks crazy workshop of specialist tools this could be a dangerous thing... As bad as some of my tinkering...

Nissan didn't even want us to get the Maf out let alone Gearbox..

And incorrectly put together could have catastrophic consequences, need I say too much more

Now...
Since we mentioned Ryan in a recent post, if you recall he totally stripped a Terrano gearbox.
What I mean is he "totalled" it...:doh

I think that was his intention, one of the input shafts became a lamp base if I recall, a few gears paper weights.:augie

Edit... he also wrecked a Honda Jazz gearbox, and it was that one that he made the lamp base from, but he did strip a Terrano one though.

I just read post 6 and chuckled to myself, I swear Alex is Ryan in disguise

Well don't forget, forum rules state we should only have one of "these" type members at a time.

One is enough...:augie
More than enough...

:lol:lol

Box is going on as is..
I don't want to spend 500 on by rebuild.
If Banshee says it don't rattle it's better than the one fitted.

It's not about a new gearbox.
I want to change my clutch and fix my oil leak on the crankshaft.
A box without rattle is a bonus.
