How hard is it to remove the gearbox from a rotten 1996 t2 swb? Were thinking of taking it out as a spare for my t2 lwb. we've got axel stands jacks and all that stuff. Ohh yeah is it worth taking the engine out aswell? Or just taking things off it like the turbo, altanenator, power steering pump and things off like that?:nenau

Its just a matter of time as far as I've seen on the various threads where its been done. Just have a go, whats to lose?

And whip off whatever bits you can, you may be surprised at how much you get for them if you sell them on....

Gearbox is bit tricky because you have to undo the torsion bars as for the engine ive sent a few down the scrap yard with good engines not much market for them but certainly take off turbo starter alternator injectors and pump as these do sell

I'll just leave the engine in and take the usable parts off as you said:thumb2

I think I'll have a crack at it. I'll just take everything off that's connected to it:lol

its not to bad, drop off your t - bars, undo all thats atached like starter slave cyl props etc, when un bolted from engine put trolley jack under back of box and strap up through tunnel (where your gear levers go). beware of box twisting and dropping when you pull it of the shaft. also they are heavy box,s - dont lay under it unless your built like a brick shit house!
