My turn to ask a daft question.

My T2 has been in two garages now for the gear oil changing but neither could get the drain plug out. The last garage is someone that I trust and he has worried the gearbox case would crack. The oil has not been changed for a long time which makes it worse.

Jim,going the club m8  i can't get the top filler plug loose.seems to have some sort of sealant round it??
My m8 said he could get it loose but wondered why it was like this in the first place?? 8O
Got all the oil for it as well

gear box plug

i also have a stuck gearbox plug.after having the gearbox off recently to change the clutch i also found that mine where seized in solid.tried heat, hammer, release spray and still no joy.in the end i turned the gearbox upside down and let it drain through the top where the gear levers fit.not an option if your box is still on the motor.i filled it up through the top when i had re fitted the box.might be possible to syphon it out through the top if all else fails.

Mines was stuck, but got it loose using drive rachet with an extension bar 8O

Had to be done

Although i have not checked mine i take it that no body has had a leak from the drain plug then

Let us all know how you get on Jim

Yeah same here both gear and trans box filler plugs wouldn't move with a 2 foot breaker bar and a bar on that, chickened out in the end before something broke...

I filled it up to via the gearstick, and the trans box I removed a sensor/switch..

Think I must have been lucky with mine  only removed the filler plug so far but after a bit of heave ho with a 2.5 ft breaker bar it freeded up nicely
