ive been for a amazingly long run today around the keighley /riddlesden/sorta moors area .... and ive come to the conclusion that sally doesnt like hills  ,i went up a very long incline from west morton towards the moors , the slope is about 2 miles continually rising ,in economy mode she really didnt wanna know , in auto mode she kept changing up and down the box every second , in power mode she went up the slope , but very slowly , so , i had a idea :p , what if i set off in power mode , then flick the switch to economy or auto ( clever arent i ? :naughty ) ........ er no ...she got up the hill , but very slowly sorta 25 mph ish , but on a good point she came back down like a rocket :D ,any ideas on how to get up long slopes a bit faster ? :nenau

maybe if i turned the overdrive off when going up hills , would that help ? :nenau

How about engine having lack of power because it needs a service or even the mini filter cleaning. Remember you can not rely on anything that ronning git said about service history. It really should just eat the hills with no problem at all. I know that area very well as I worked at the big office in Cross Flatts for long enough and I know there is nothing there that the Missy should struggle with. I'd be giving it a good service and cleaning the mini filter to be sure.

it revs fine jim , no prob at all there ,sounds good too , tomorrow ive got to visit a friend at ben rhydding ( near ilkley ) and its very hilly there , so im going to try turning the overdrive off .

stay out of economy/overdrive & keep a low gear, I need to change down in the works van when hits hills on the motorway otherwise that would just go backwards! :lol

Surely when the engine is just revving and not under load it wont need the same amout of fuel. If there is a restriction somewhere then when it needs a large amount of fuel because it's under load then it won't get it?

good point jim , will ask alan or clive at bridgefield to check it :thumb2

Due to it's recent history I think it's not a bad idea to get it serviced including the mini filter just to be sure. I think you gotta look at it that you don't know what has and hasn't been done to it before you got it. Get the rear diff oil done at the same time.

im sure the lads at the garage would have checked it over very well and serviced it , but i will pop in and ask

Don't assume ask to be sure what they did when it was serviced it, I'm sure they will of done a good job but as Zippy says they probably won't know about the mini filter.

tell ya what its like jim , ... its as though you want to select 2nd gear for example , but can only get either 1st or 3rd , 1st is power mode and 3rd is economy mode , but im going for a little drive in a mo to try out my little idea of turning the overdrive off , going to have a likkle drive up to denholme , that sould find out shouldnt it ? ..... watch this space lol :lol
