hi, can anyone tell me if both the red and black wire going to the two sols on the mechanical fuel pump are live, just need to confirm before i start popping fuses, thanks.

I got Mav here at the mo and as far as I can see it only has one solenoid, other point is it is not live with just the ignition on, I guess it only becomes live when cranking and once running remains live but not had time to check this out yet, Rick

Is this an electronic or mechanical pump?

fuel pump

hi, thanks sol , yes Ray its a retro fit i,m attempting tired of the different probs ive had related to the fuel elecs and as my speed of work at the moment is dead slow and stop it,ll take me awhile but hopefully with a bit of help and advice i,ll get there and be able to pass on a bit of knowledge on here thanks,
RAY [smegg].

Can you take a pic of said pump and pop it on please. There are two flavours it would seem, one with electric advance solonoid and one without...

hi, mate yes i,ll have a go at that as soon as the rain eases off its bucketing downhere at the mo , the pump looks like my old mav one except two sols ive got the original bosch electronic one sitting in the boot, the mech one is in situ, pedal and cable fitted, i did,nt know they put more elec bits on the mech pump, if so have to rethink my wireing.

Very simple really if it has the advance solonoid.

You want B+ for the run solonoid live all the time the key is on, from the disconnected ecu multiplug, and a B+ from the starter solonoid live only when cranking to the advance unit. Ensure the engine itself is well earthed (check the strap) and away you go.

The ecu and all sensors must remain connected for the glow plugs and dash to work, although depending on how you do it, you'll probably get the check engine light on. (take the bulb out)

Thanks, again for your help rick and all i should be able to sort that out now, if the rain stays off long enough, still got a few bits to put on it.
