Is 5% petrol not enough with veg oil then ??

I need to run 20% with Rapeseed oil in colder temps or it will starve above 3000rpm.
Hell, I still need to run 5-10% in summer!

Not as much as it struggling to actually pump fluid in the first place!
Other than a few weeks of 10 or 15% in the warmer summer temps, I've been going like that for 11 months and about 11k miles.
Worrying about 10% or 20% petrol on the pump is probably splitting hairs.
If the seals were going to fail because of it, they probably would have done so by now...cue pump failure! :doh

according to a lot of webs and forums 30% petrol to wvo is fine.

Yep, gotta face the facts, veg is just plain thicker than diesel, roughly 20% petrol (depending on the type of veg oil being used) will bring down to about the same viscosity. Given the IP can cope pretty well with cold diesel during the winter, it copes with the thicker veg in summer just as well, but in these cold days, all you are doing is putting strain on the system.

Your metal fuel pipes may well be congested too, this will again get worse the thicker the fuel is, a new 8mm ID tube will solve that issue and is an easy fix to do, even a pale faced computer desk jockey like me can manage that!

R1cho, wvo can be fine as long as it's treated well. I've done 16,000 miles over the past couple of years on it and 80% of that fuel has been free (the rest being petrol and a splash of diesel). I am confident that by the time it's filtered, dewatered, treated with petrol (strips out water and contaminants) and then filtered much finer than new cooking oil is, that it's just dandy in the tank. Even if the whole truck melts tomorrow, it's saved me way more in fuel than buying another one would be! If I had the time and patience to set up a proper bio plant, then I would as I'm sure that would be even better for the poor old IP, but I'm just too darn lazy

The temperature has caused the oil to be more viscous as your mix isn't strong enough, the closer your veg gets to it's pour point temperature the more your filter will clog
