Ok, running veg is playing havoc with my fuel filter. It gets blocked, I change it and its fine. Seems to last about 2000miles if that, but if I run say £40 of diesel through it seems to clear out and run fine again

I'm asuming the fuel filter filters to about 5-10 micron ?

I'm thinking replace the lot with a plant/marine assembly this will offser me the choice of moving to a less finer 30 micron filter ...

Something like this :

http://www.asap-supplies.com/marine...ments/racor-152r10-diesel-spin-on-fuel-filter

What do you think ? Any harm as the veg is that bloody clean and there is never any solids in my filter when I change it, and when I had sender out the tank was spotless

Any cheaper options than that assembly in the link ?

How long have you been running veg for in the car?? As it will clear the crap out of the tank for a fair few miles to start with and then get better. So in all honesty you will change the filter quite regulary to begin with

4 months, maybe more like 6 tbh

doesn't sound right to me, i have never ha fuel filter issues on SVO. are you using new clean oil?

maybe it's using GM soya oil, i usually use rape seed oil, using sunflower at the moment.

Ok mate, I think I will move to rapeseed for a bit, its still cheap enough

ok,well i introduced my t2 to wvo and have had a lot of probs myself.
to cut a long story short i ended up putting a cctv in the bay pointed to the filter primer unit linked to a tv in the cab.
after many mods thinking i had blockages dirty filters etc on runs all was ok till i upped the speed or towed the van.
what i saw was an eye opener as under load the tv showed that the primer pump was being sucked down when loaded then going up as i eased off but not up fully untill it stopped fuel flow and cut engine out.
on inspection and restarting all was well untill it happened again.
i had the fuel tank apart, changed the rubber hoses in and out, blew the pipes in and out, left fuel cap loose, changed filters within 200mls and as a last resort changed the fuel feed from the tank to the across the bulk head pipe and still had the problem.
i was at witts end and as a last resort put the camera in place.
so i disconnected the primer filter unit and put in line filter in place and thought that will clear the prob and did untill i booted the car.
i pulled over and saw the filter was collapsing so changed it to i big in line red and clear plastic one with a higher fuel flow and that sees to have stopped the problem at last.well it went to 4000 rpm with no prob.
i filter to 1m so my oil is very good and i am experienced wvo user of many years.
this might help you.

Got a link for your big high flow filter ?

So, it's probably down to the viscosity of the fuel, I haven't had many issues, but I always put a bit of petrol in with mine to thin it down, usually between 10-20% depending on weather. KTC Soya is much thicker than rapeseed though.

i am using ktc oil and always have done in other vehicles, never had an issue, but i never run 100%. at the moe i am running 80/20 veg/diesel and i wont go higher tbh. ive had this current filter on for 4k miles on mix.

item no 130878061253 on eb.
i use rug at 15 0/0 as well.now and again some derv.

I am running 100% ktc oi with just a bit of petrol untill weather is 8degs at night. from makro last lot was 17.99 for 20l and no vat fuel filter has been on now 4k or so hope that helps

me too, apart from the petrol bit. twin tank off course, :)

Youre not using that in place of the original filter or as well as it

Thing is mate, the oil is that well refined I doubt there is any solids at all in it

It's just very fooking thick ! :D

Ie. food purity standards are higher than bloody diesel I'll bet ;)

Yes i agree but i bet if you analized all the crap in you filter most wouldnt have come from the fuel.Im thinking of things like rusty tanks and fuel lines dirty nozzels at pump you only want small bit of crap in the fuel pump to cause major problem.I only ever use pump diesel myself as i only do about 4 or 5k a year just now worth the hassle for me.
