Yes i agree but i bet if you analized all the crap in you filter most wouldnt have come from the fuel.Im thinking of things like rusty tanks and fuel lines dirty nozzels at pump you only want small bit of crap in the fuel pump to cause major problem.I only ever use pump diesel myself as i only do about 4 or 5k a year just now worth the hassle for me.

I agree mate, about shit around filler, nozzel at pump shit in tank ect

But if you are anal about filling your tank with veg, clean hands, clean well stored funnel etc i think a coarser filter could be used.

I also doubt damage to pump, you may end up with an injector ****ed tho if a bit if shit got thru

I put all kinds of crap in mine always drain last drop from scrappers etc but run good quality filter.
Ref damage to pumps i always find plenty of buyers for injection pumps can sell as many as i can get never ask why they need them but have my own theory on that

I run blueprint filters, what you reckon to them ?

Also, could fkd pumps be due to the pump straining to suck the thick oil thru due to restrictive filters

Ok, running veg is playing havoc with my fuel filter. It gets blocked, I change it and its fine. Seems to last about 2000miles if that, but if I run say £40 of diesel through it seems to clear out and run fine again

I'm asuming the fuel filter filters to about 5-10 micron ?

I'm thinking replace the lot with a plant/marine assembly this will offser me the choice of moving to a less finer 30 micron filter ...

Something like this :

What do you think ? Any harm as the veg is that bloody clean and there is never any solids in my filter when I change it, and when I had sender out the tank was spotless

Any cheaper options than that assembly in the link ?

Thinking about all this, I've been using these cheap 'blueprint' fuel filters that are a fiver

Any decent brand one like wix, bosch, etc are anywhere from £12 to £20 so I might put a decent brand one on, as the blueprint ones can't be all that at the cost of £5 something has to give being so cheap

These are the dogs reading on google :

if your filter appears to be blocked after say 2000 miles then you put diesel in and it runs fine i would say its not a blocked filter to start with stinka, as it would block the diesel too surely? durring my time researching veg oil for my old vw it seemed that some engines/pumps were happy to run on 100%, some 75% and so on, just saying, maybe your engine/pump may not like 100%? try lowering the ratio with derv and see how you get on maybe?

It is ok with a lower ratio, I'm determined to run 100% tho mate, I resent paying shit loads of tax on fuel !! :D

me too! could it be too much animal fat in the veg oil making it too thick tho?
have you considered putting an electric in line fuel pump by the tank, just to help the engines fuel pump out if u are running thicker fuel?

I've been on diesel now for last fortnight, going to give svo another go, but instead of KTC soya, I'm going to use pride rape oil. See how she likes that :)

just athought stinka, you havnt got a dent or kink in the fuel line after raising or off roading have you, so slowing the flow thru, but lettin the diesel thru fine?
try the rapeseed bud, lettuce know how she/he runs.

Ok, been on pride rape oil all week, absolutely worlds apart ! Seems to run better than diesel ! Can only have been down to poor running on KTC soya

As has been said before, KTC Soya is just that bit thicker than most rapeseed oil. Tesco's are one of the cheapest for rapeseed round here, their own brand 5L veg oil is rape seed and is the perfect size to lift up and pour into a funnel easily. Still on offer of 2 x 5L for £10 and you get the Tesco points an all.

I always dilute my oil with some petrol to thin it down, but then at the moment, I have 80L sitting in the garden waiting on a final filtering that has cost me nowt bar the time to collect, so even 20% duty paid fuel doesn't matter too much! :)

Best option, if you can get a source, is misfuel. By weighing 1L of misfuel you can roughly work out the petrol to diesel ratio assuming they haven't lobbed in engine oil as well!
