thing is im gona have to wind it up 2 inches or more just to bring it leavel with the rear....or is it a case of as its sagging i can go higher???...sorry to keep askin daft questions....

Like mine was until recently. Now it's 20mm lower than the rear - that's the key measurement (tyre to wheelarch).

I found the locking nuts very hard to move on mine. Ended up using a spanner between the two 19mm spanners to force them apart. Once cracked off, they were fine. Use a lot of penetrating oil.

You can do it with the vehicle on the ground too. After undoing the top lock nut, I find it easier to hold a spanner on the top nut, and use a socket wrench on the lower nut. Don't forget to nip up the lock nut afterwards. Put plenty of grease or waxoyl over the nuts ready for next time. Now you have greasy fingers, don't forget the steering stops, two each side, a blob on each will last the winter.
Stops that annoying graunching on full lock.

But bounce it after you have adjusted it to settle it.

These bars do sag after time, so a couple of inches will probably get it back to what it should be. Check clearances on the front rubber bump stops, two each side, but they may have gone walk about.:doh

Have a look at any tyre wear on the front tyres, and make a note and compare it over the next few thousand miles.

If you over lift, you can wear out one side of the tyre, but my guess is, that as it is too low, you are probably wearing out the other side anyhow.

BUT I can't remember which edge wears most due to too much lift.:doh:doh

Hope it helps anyway.

thanks for all the info and help guys!!!!....i'll get a pic up of it when i get ma finger out and do it!!!

well iv been and had a look at these today.....i had to fit a new backbox (as mine fell off after 2mins of buyin it!!!!....bless em).....got that done...then had a go at these but i didnt manage to wind them up as the two nuts ar welded together with rust!!!! :-( then it started raining so i gave up for the day.....but its all taxed and MOT'd now so at least in can drive it!!!!....
i'll have another crack at it soon....

That's why you need lots of penetrating oil. I ended up with a spanner on each nut and then another spanner between the spanners to push them apart. They 'cracked' quite merrily with that technique.
