I'm with sweetly, for the faff I wouldn't bother.

So I have a bit of extra wear, I don't get dry spots that's for sure, I don't need to select 4wd if only using on road to lube the mechanisms inside the diff.

Yes I use more fuel and the cvs must wear quicker, at least it don't need to step out in a deep mud puddle to select it, then hop back out to un select it :lol

Sweety's on about the faff involved if you have 17" rims as they won't fit with manual hubs.

Putting the lever into 4wd while tootling about town to stir up the diff oil isn't a hardship and you only need to do that if your hubs are unlocked. If the hubs are locked they just act like fixed hubs so your diff will turn all the time.

Don't need to step out into a deep puddle to lock up the hubs  just do it before you go offroad - all it does is turn the hubs into fixed hubs. You just unlock them once you're finished offroad or even just when you get home.

At the laning weekend my hubs got locked on Friday night and didn't get unlocked until Monday morning just before I left the campsite :thumb2

...I change the rear (LSD) oil last week, found it had been running about 25% low, so thought I might as well change the front diff oil in case that is low.
Ta muchly!:doh

As has been said, if there wasn't a leak, why were they 25% low?
Oil doesn't evaporate...:augie I can guess it can atomise into fine droplets and could be blown out of the breather... but not likely, with that amount.
Now, the levels could have been checked when the vehicle wasn't level, but for that amount, the vehicle would have to be on a 1 in 4 gradient.(best guess)...

It could be the case with the front axle where there was only 1 litre in it, that's all the oil the last person put in. Which then begs the question, what type of oil was it?
Maybe a Jo Brand moment, when she was describing house cleaning... F*** it that'll do....:lol
