Hi Everyone,
So I've finally brought a Terrano 2 LWB TDI 1997, have been planning to get one for a while.

There are a few niggly electric faults but everything else is fine except:

There seems to be a intermittent front braking problem. When driving around town, sometimes a light busing noise starts and the front brake starts behaving a little bit like ABS but not in a good way, has anyone got any ideas.

I've not had the wheels off to check the pads yet but as it's intermittent not sure it's the pads.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mackenzie

The front calipers ride on two slider pins, these have a tendency to stick due to corrosion and lack of maintenance. I'd look at these in any event as they are probably due some attention and a good clean up.

Brake problem ?

I would start with basics like checking both front brake calipers are working as they should.
If the pad wear is similar on inner and outer pads and on both wheels then caliper seizure is not likely.
I would then be looking at the condition of the front reluctor rings / tone wheels as corrosion on them leads to a disruption of the signal to the ABS sensor.
If they are free of corrosion etc then check the sensors. Others here can help you with use of a multi meter to do this.

Hope this helps.

Welcome 79 to the club :thumbs where about in Scotland are you .............it sound s like the slider are jammed......take them off and give them a clean :clap

yep sliders for sure, but be careful they shear easy, work them easy to free them, heat may be needed, sheer them and new calliper will be needed, but can be drilled out if you are astute enough, I have done a few, Rick

Thanks, for all the replies, will get onto it tomorrow.

Was out in the West Highlands of Scotland, but moved back down to Bristol for a bit to make some money.

This seems a great owners club, by the way.

Will update how I get on.

Thanks
