Well I have traveled in France many times and have never been pulled over or stopped by the law, they rely on the fear factor more than anything.
My mates parents live over there and they are amazed at what Brits are hauling around in their vehicles when they visit France, as my mates dad says, you have to do something bloody stupid to get pulled over.

never been to Plymouth before, if we can meet before for a meal that would be great , but i dont know any good places to eat, do you ?

Plenty of time yet, but if you are meeting up in Plymouth,
I would sugesrt meeting at sainsberys,its just as you come off the A38 so easy to find
and there is a good cafe. You can get somthing to eat and drink.
Its then just a 10min Drive in to the ferry port. There isn't anything to do at the port just a little snack bar,so I wouldn't get there until at most 1 hr before boarding.

yes Plymouth basically is not worth a visit. I was just thinkin about this myself.
I may spend the day in torquay or somewhere and get to Plymouth late on.

We will meet you & steve at Roscoff ,its easy to get lost here ,the roads all look the same and the signs are rubbish! dont know if Rick has a sat nav? he's got a much longer trip from st Malo.
