Hi, I have a ten year old transit, similar to this.
http://www.ford-transit.info/gallery/1998/ford-transit-photo-1.html

Some one has had a real go at stealing it. They have damaged all the locks and damaged the ignition (all still there just they have forced something into all the key holes, ignition included so they must have got in and wiggled it about) so now it is very fiddly to start with the key.

Since then i have been disconnecting the battery and have also bought a disk lok.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery is becoming a real chore.

So, is there a very quick and simple way i can immobilize the van when it is parked.
It is a diesel by the way.

Thanks

take the steering wheel off ? :naughty

wheel clamp ?

big dog in back of van ?

take fuse for starter out ?

will think of some more later :naughty

i see it's a diesel, find the fuel shut off valve on main pump and wire a switch in line and hide switch in cab, just turn off and no fuel will get to pump, or you could put a battery cut out switch in cab and isolate the battery that way. :thumbs:naughty

Thatcham alarm:doh

Should have added a cheap fix well more FREE:D

The van was due to be scrapped October gone, but then its inclusion in the low emission zone thing was pushed back to Jan 2012.
So i want to keep it alive just until then.

Will check this out, thanks.

Has this no transpoder immobiliser fitted? (red dot on key) if so dont worry as they cannot get around that to easily.

Take the live feed to the ignition, wire a switch into it hidden in the glove box/down under steering wheel etc.
Used to fit them to old Escorts / Fiestas... they still break in but get proper confused when it comes to hot wiring them!!!

no they are not easy to get around as it inhibits the starter and the injection pump solenoid.:thumb2
