Fitting rear view camera - earth point?

Hi all, I was fitting a rear view camera this afternoon and although I managed to put it, to make it work, I'm not sure where actually an earth point near from the fuse box.

I'm using this to get a power source from the fusebox ("Cigar lighter") + on/off switch so that regardless if the power is on, I can control the current;

I searched the past posts and couldn't really work out exactly which screw I can attach the cable with for the earth point near from the fusebox.

Could someone advise?

EL (280) showed this - not sure where B10/B18 are? But they are not in the fusebox, are they?

Metal bracket just to the right of the bottom right hand corner of the fuse box mounting point. Ring terminal on a piece of wire job done.

By the way watch the mirror adjusting switch as it breaks apart really easily.

Thanks, Jim. Is this it? As for mirror adjusting switch, actually I didnt check if it still works afterwards. I will check tomorrow.

I didn't take much pics apart from these today; It was a cold day to be outside!

it's good to have a switch rather than relying only on the reverse light. Having said that. I took a bit of shortcut to get cabling done for the camera. Both camera/monitor are using power source from the fusebox. I was temped to put the cables under the carpet/trim all way through, but couldn't do it....lack of time and energy. Only my concern at the moment is the cabling around fusebox as I don't have to have hanging wires around pedals when I drive!

Yes that bracket, either the screw you have indicated or even trap a ring terminal between the trim and bracket when you fit the panel back with it's screw.
No reason why you can't take the power for both units from the piggy back you have fitted. As for the cables yes ensure you fasten them out of harms way. I found you can gently push the cables under the plastic kick strip panels on the edge of the carpet, miht need to pry the edges of the trims slightly to allow the cables underneath.

Good to know as that was the point I tentatively put the cables to attach.

Those kick plates are not difficult to remove but to be honest if you are just running a couple of small cables you'll be able to gently lift the edge and push the cables under.

I use cable trunking like this and secure with a cable tie as required.

Tricky bit is threading the cable through. I use some single strand mains earth cable to use to pull the wires through the trunking. I tend to go a tad larger in diameter to make it all easier.

True, thanks for the link. At the moment power/video is tied just by tape on the way from rear side to the front, where I should thread each cable by using this kind of trunking tube...bookmarked!:thumb2
