Years ago, I only had 8 driving lessons, and one of those was the test, which I passed first time.
However I had already been riding a motor bike for some time, so knew the rules of the road.
I could also drive too, on L plates on a series II LR.:doh:doh
Oh I had done decokes on it too...
In between two driving lessons, I remember the Instructor shouting...
"You've been driving that BL**DY LAND ROVER AGAIN, HAVEN'T YOU... ?CHANGE DOWN A GEAR!!!"
So I understand where the instructor is coming from.
He banned me from driving it before my test...:lol
When most people learn to drive, often their first task is to understand what the controls are, what they do, and how to use them, Crikey, understand them... you have replaced most of them.
Over the next few months if you don't take proper lessons you will reinforce bad habits, which will then be very difficult to loose, and costly, as your instructor tries to iron them out over many more lessons.
You don't really need the practice on how to control the car, only what to do in situations, so why not start your lessons now, have a couple, let the instructor tell you what to improve on.
When my daughter learnt to drive, she was often stalling the car at traffic lights, so in between lessons, I took her out and practiced hill starts, that sorted that one.
The other one was how to join a dual carriage way at speed, I said BOOT IT, BOOT IT, BOOT IT she then had the confidence to join traffic.
Oh she passed first time too.
Oh by the way, on the driving test there is very little opportunity to do hand brake or J turns, so if I were you forget that bit :lol:lol
Ryan,
I like many others wished we lived closer, I would give up a few hours to ride shot gun. BUT first get a few lessons in, then practice, practice and improve.
Good luck
Best regards,
Richard (Rustic).
