Could not resist it had a drive in some virgin snow this morning and on some compacted snow/ice and quite peased with how the motor handled it.

It was quite different from the Terrano r3mR as it was more pulling from the front than pushing from the rear so it gave the steering a nice feel. Reversed up my drive when I got back and that was the first hint of wheel spin.

TBH uploading photos takes me ages as my file size is too big and I have to put mine through an e mail reducer programme to upload them.
I do not do flicker of photobucket yet.
 
Did you use the Torque on demand or can you lock in 4 wheel drive. Not sure how it works on the Santa Fe.

I come from a generation when most people did not have a landline never mind a mobile.

When my wife was in labour I walked about a quarter of a mile to the phone box in a village aptly named Clowne in North East Derbyshire to phone for an Ambulance.

So I am pretty new to mobile ownership. In fact I still prefer my old Nokia 6310i as the battery lasts a full week !!

Last time I got stuck in snow was 11 years ago when fishing for Pike. I had a rear wheel drive estate car and a friendly 4 x 4 owner towed me a good half a mile up the road. That is what made me go for 4WD for the first time! Lol

P.S. The towcar was a Rexton !!

Did you use the Torque on demand or can you lock in 4 wheel drive. Not sure how it works on the Santa Fe.

There are no manual controls except for gearchanges if you do not want to use the automatic gearbox. Not even a centre diff lock,LSD or low ratio option as per my old r3mR.

The owners manual just says that its normally 70% FWD and when wheels detect slip it automatically shifts the power to the other wheels. Seems to work so far, I dont think it even has a LSD.
 
my bro has been looking into sf.keeps on about the year they changed bhp or something.he has a large van to tow.reckons price is coming down for them.

The Diesels seem to hold their price but the petrols are getting very cheap.
Also the old model names seem cheap like the Terracan & the Tuscan.

When hasn't that been the case for pretty much any Diesel!?!?!

My FL1 was similar. It had a viscous coupling that locked when the front section of the prop-shaft spun faster than the rear. It was a seriously impressive off-roader by any standards. I live up a mile-long farm track & she got me home through 2' of snow. Loved that wee truck
