Here's a game for anyone with 5 minutes to spare

For Christmas I was given a £25 Amazon gift card I've decided that I'm going to spend it on a nice new set of 1/2 inch sockets

Here's the rules;

1. I want a decent brand
2. They have to be 1/2 inch
3. They don't have to have a ratchet included (I was brought a halfords professional one at Christmas)
4. They have to come from Amazons website obviously

I don't mind going over by a few quid but I don't want them to bend like a spoon :thumbs

£32.40 for Draper 23-Piece 1/2-Inch Drive Metric Hi-Torq Socket Set (Sockets only)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-3075...&qid=1389115658&sr=1-168&keywords=1/2"+socket

OR

£30.80 for Draper 25-Piece 1/2-Inch Square Drive Metric and Imperial Combined Socket Set (Silverdrive)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-0237...&qid=1389115743&sr=1-268&keywords=1/2"+socket

My 3/4" set is Silverdrive and I am very happy with it :thumbs

Are Draper good though :nenau

I've been told to steer clear as they sell Draper stuff and Poundland and that isn't too clever

All my sockets are Draper, so's my mates and his get very abused on his farm. It was an farm engineering friend who told me to go silverdrive for the 3/4" set :nenau

Draper do a budget "DIY" brand which I believe isn't really up for abuse.

Draper is ok for the money TBH if you want the good stuff you'll have to spend 10x as much as Snap on & MAC Tools ain't cheap:doh but these might be worth a look bought the 1st link as spares but not burst any of the sockets yet

Both lots of techs at Honda and Jaguar seem to favour snap on

But have also spent thousands, no exaggeration.

halfords had a sale on. the big socket set with everyhing in it down to 100 quid and if you bought it online you got a gift with it.. i forget what it was but could of been rachet spanners..

bit vauge i know but they are good and have lifetime guarente

Didn't catch you in time but I would have recommended this.
The multipoint ones have a tendency to round rusty nuts and bolts and are thinner walled and more prone to cracking. I've had the set you've bought for nearly 10 years of home use.
The 6 point impact ones listed above I use on a daily basis at work as a mechanic and for the money are tremendous. So good I bought a set for home too!
