For the past two years, myself and a good friend have been working on a horse neglect case - over sixty horses and some dogs being neglected, not feed or receiving vet care etc.
Several animals died, including one young mare who slipped in mud and was too weak to stand. Horrific.
The owners were hoarders, and blind to the problems, convinced they were good caring people.

We spent ages going in undercover, in daylight as 'customers', or sneaking in along public footpaths at night in all weathers, taking photo's, videos, vet/farrier reports, interviews with ex and current staff etc. Oh we covered everything.

And tonight finally we heard that Trading Standards are prosecuting for over twenty separate counts of neglect.

Thank ****!!!

Well done... I hope that those poor animals can now get the care they deserve. :thumb2

We help out with the local Ferret Rescue, and have done the odd "recovery" job a couple of times... It is so hard to just go in, get the info, or whatever, and get out without loosing the plot...

One time, we had to pick up some 3day old kits, the mother, and a couple of other ferrets from a guy. He is standing there telling me that as he knew he would be getting rid of them, he had run out of food 4 days ago, and was not going to spend out for any more, so we might find they are a bit hungry!!!!! This is an animal that needs to eat every 3 hours, even when not feeding kits... How I got out of there without decking the guy still remains a mystery...:(

Jeez, people are just shitheads at times.
I used to do stuff for ferret welfare many years ago.

It is so hard to keep calm, but especially if it's going to end up in court, you have to bite your tongue and hide the shotgun.

Were the kits okay? Poor little buggers, and poor mum.

Good news & well done Rynne22:thumbs 2 of my old Jack Russell's (litter brothers) I later found out had been working dogs & only ate what they caught, they were only 10 months old when I got them aswell but soon got the weight & muscle on them what they should have had:thumb2 a year later we went shopping & I stopped outside as we had taken the boy's & our JR Pup with us when the old owner spotted the boy's & came over wanting to buy them back:eek: he got told to do one & the next thing I know all 3 were trying to take lumps out of him & he sharp legged it:lol:lol

Yes, thank goodness, we ended up keeping them here for the duration. The mum was in a bad way, as she was already a small jill, and she had used up all her bodies reserves, but assisting her with Lactol, and a very high protein diet kept her going until we could get the kits weaned, and get some meat back onto her bones. Luckily, the other Jill that came with them, was a fantastic foster mum and help look after the kits when they were awake, so the mum could get some sleep

Only bad thing was we found we were useless at being a rescue, as the mum, aunty, dad, and 3 of the 6 kits all stayed with us for ever...:augie:lol

Well done Rynne22

Grew up looking after livestock, sheep for a long time and now have a clydesdale filly - no truck with anyone that neglects their animals

Well done you, i cannot comprehend the level of person that can do that. It tugs at my heart strings just to hear one of my dogs crying for something minor. Something like that must cause upset but at the same time such a sense of achievement. I got two labs and love em to bits even tho ones a pup and a complete nutter.
We used to have a hamster that injured one of its teeth, cut the story short it needed taking to vets every three weeks for the tooth trimming. Sounds really minor but as far as I was concerned we took responsibilty for its car when we bought it. Only lasted a few months after that but despite the cost we had to do it.

It is proposed that people who will abuse, neglect, etc animals, will undertake similar actions on other people........so............it must work in the opposite way, that folks who care and lavish attention and love on animals, will have similar warm caring sentiments to (most) humans..........it is without doubt the ying and yang, dark and light, sad and happy state that we have to exsist in.........I just know I have a real problem with folks who hurt creatures that cannot help themselves...........tend to end in a violent reaction, that has at times landed me in hot water.........:nenau

Anyway, Clive, I think you have great little wrigglies, but they make me go all warm and cuddly, can't have that......so I will limit looking at them to 10 minute intervals now....

Well done indeed! Banshee will be along to correct you on your bad language too :whip:

:lol

Thank you, and sorry for the bad word - was it justified? - too f-ing right! (Better?)

You know better than to even attempt tell me off, Banshee :sly

Mr Ferret - I have to be so careful not to fall for the animals I get involved in. Recent case in Ireland - 40 malamutes, all needing rescuing from a dire situation. I fell hook, line and sinker for a gorgeous girlie who was so terrified of people that she would cower and mess herself.
9 Months later and she has been living with some friends of mine who are experienced malamute people, and she is only just now starting to trust. I love her to bits, but from afar.

Mr Beast - love clydie's, fantastic natured horses.

Apparently the court is open, so I'll be there to watch!
