When I bought the car it came with the dual battery mod, at least that's what I thought! I started to notice something was wrong when all the wiring looked so professional and took it to a friend of mine who is a space electric PhD student and knows his way around vehicles as well and he confirmed that it most be factory made.
The batteries are connected together working as one single battery, not a normal aux/ start battery setup!
Does anyone else have it like this, or maybe it's a Nordic version? It makes since if it is, colder climate more starting power needed? :nenau

I've never seen or heard of one but wouldn't mind seeing some pictures. Would have thought that it would have been done if there were lots of accessories/lighting on the vehicle.

It wouldn't help with starting power really, the starter motor only draws a certain amount of load, only thing it would benefit with is that if it didn't start it would just crank for longer

I will sort pictures out in the evening! I think it might affect the "CCA" (cold crank amp). The colder it gets the battery will loose power. It has happened to me so many times with my former car that when it's below -20C and the car has been left standing for a night without the heater on I wont get it started (The engine will take many slooow turns before it's ready to start and the battery wont cope). I know this is a common problem.
Then as you say it will be able to crank longer till the engine starts.

Are they connected in series or parallel ?

i.e. Is it two 6 volt batteries or two 12 volt batteries ?

Using two 6 volt batteries gives you the ability to have more CCA it is common on some boats where you have six 2 volt batteries.

It's two 12v batteries connected in parallel. So same voltage, double the current.

Here is some pictures,

they are only 60ah so as it takes a 95ah battery thats why it has two.a 100ah will fit on o/s tray.ccc might be slightly up using 2 though.

I wish I had two batteries connected for when I come over. Getting the Trol started in the morning is my biggest worry.

I've heard of factory fit dual battery before but usually mistrals and from the other side of the world. Can understand having two batteries when it's so cold tho, perhaps not original batteries though.

Would love dual batteries on my trucks, thinking about fitting on my project car but these would be isolated other than charge system.

Has anyone noticed the fuel filter on the opposite side too.

I got one of those from Aldi but it won't turn my motor, probably not as much omph as that one though. I use the caravan battery on the odd occasion it's dead.
It took me a while to find this and I couldn't find CCA for the Terrano until I looked at the current battery which has 540CCA and decided that the Maplin jobbie would be OK.
It's only temporary and should get me out of a hole when needed, that, and I can run some electrics without draining the main battery when camping.

These batteries are not original, they are crap. Really the cheapest one can find... I'm sure it was stronger batteries fitted before.
I will fit a 95A Bosch or Tudor battery as start and then use a VSR to convert the other one to an AUX.

Paultrol, get a jump starter battery as Don Simon suggested! Bring it with you inside the tent and it will for sure be enough to get it going.

The down side of permanently connecting two batteries together is that if one cell in one goes short/semi short, it will drag the other battery down with it, Rick

so is it 24v volt to starter motor only or just 12volt throughout??

Quite agree, a pair of 6V batteries would be the better way to go.

looking 6v golf buggy batts.225ah 4 for 395.super amp then for caravan.proper leisure batts.
