I picked up the truck friday after having the engine replacement and although the guy ahs done a good job it's running like a bag of poo. When we broke down and blue the engine it would appear that it got oil in the intercooler, the mechanic has tried to clean it as best he can but said I just need to run it to burn it out. it doen't smoke when running on the road, but tick-over .... well that a different story and it is very lumpy like it's miss fireing any way the engine management light is on all the time and it's got no power hardly at all. it takes ages to get up tp 50mph.

Personally I am think it is in "get-you-home-mode". I intend to change the fuel filter but as it's bank holiday I'll have to wait till tuesday but has anybody got any ideas what else it might be :?: . The mechanic took the fuel pump off the origanal engine and put it onto this one. Father-in-law was wondering if you have to do the timing with the fuel pump to engine :? I don't think this is the case as it runs good just got no power, like I said I think it's in "get you home mode".

I am open to comments and suggestions please guy & gals.

id have thought with mechanik having battery off for few days ecu would have reset pump would need to be timed to engine he would have done that on refitting, you sure you aint been sold a lemmon of an engine?

I think the first thing you should do Mr Duck is read your error code,
Take a look in the downloads on how to do it.

It may be, there is something not pluged in.

Sounds possibly like it, my friend got a replacement one for his landie, it ran like a bag of nails, so it came out and apart... 2 bent con rods! 8O

Enough to make it run jst very rough with little power.

Check your turbo pipes as well for any loss of pressue... again a bit of a guess!

Thanks for the replys guys, the engine runs fine at about 2 to 3000rpm so I don't think this is going to be a major issue ie lemon engine and it sound sweet as a nut (loads quieter than the old one ever did). How ever thank Toolbox for pointing me to the down loads section, as I am not like colgate toothpaste (no ring of confidence) I'll wait till Tuesday and take a print off the workshop and take to a local garage and get them to do it. Off to work today (loadsa money) so I'll use my sons bike

Thanks guy's for all your help, Looks like I'll have to put something in the Testimonials after all this  .

Well today I took her (the truck) into an Auto electrician and no surprise she had 7 yes 7 fault codes up. Weldone to Mr Toolbox cos thats what he said to do. The last one of the fault codes showing that the injector for No1 had packed up   this one tells all the others how much fuel to allow in to the others  . So rapidly got on the dog & bone to Nissan 8O & horror £150+ vat but I was given a discount so I only had to pay £165.00 . Mechanic is moving house today so I'll have to wait till tomorrow but the auto electric man says 1/2 hour max and all should be as sweet as a nut ( hopefully)

Could some of the fault codes be off the old dead engine :? £165 for an injector I did'nt think they were that much 8O

Yes sweety you are right some of the fault codes came from the old engine but are stored in the car :? he said they related to overheating but he has now cleared these so heres hoping she will be running properly again soon

Duck,
Cant you take No 1 injector out of your old engine and use that.

Hi Jeremy, here's hoping that I will be able to do that tomorrow (thursday) as the one that came in the engine is NBG keep your fingers and anything else crossed for me please.

Will do Ducky

Well here we are a week later and a lot lighter in the pocket because today I took the car into Nissan and a £170.00 lighter  the car still runs like a bag of POO   . the problem though has now been sorted to the fact that the cylinder head on the replacement engine is different to the one on the origanal engine, ie the injector holes are smaller on the replacement engine so the ECU is sending the wrong signals to the No1 injector (300.00   ).

So the next step now is to go to the workshop where he took it all apart strip off the head off the old engine, get that pressure tested so as we can go from there. if ( fingers crossed) it is not cracked etc then rebulid that one and put it on the new block  if not I really am stuck  ..... I 'll ask my friends on the club site for HHHHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPP please guys.

heres hoping

Hi Jace,
Nope a different ecu will not be compatable with the rest of the car :| . the only other one I can think of is to remove the head on the replacement and have it drilled out then helicoiled :( . The guy at Nissan has spoken to a company that do this type of work and apparently this is possible  .
