Engine hoist / crane

Apologies if this has been done to death but i couldn't find a definate answer.

I need buy and engine hoist ( I'm not a hirer...)

Do I buy a 2 ton of a 1 ton?

In reality I expect to be using it at the extremities of its reach so that means either 250kg lift or 500kg lift. ( I'm sure there is probably a bit more ).

Looking at the measurements the 2 tonner does give a bit more reach but do I really need double the capacity? I'd only be working on the Terrano and saloon cars?

Do you think 250kg is enough for the vast majority of diy home mechanics?

i bought a 2ton as the price was not much in it I bought mine online from s&g engineering it has a great lift height and solid 250kg would be a waste of time :thumb2

Belt & Braces for me.

I too would go for the higher specification if funds allowed.
