eml code 53

Hi hope someone can help. Father in law recently bought a 97 2.7tdi maverick yesterday the eml came on. I did paper clip test. 5slow flashes and 3fast flashes. The chart I looked at said oxygen sensor? Is this right? If so where is it? Thanks George

I've got a 96' Maverick SWB you don't see many of the round facelift Mavericks anymore, I've actually yet to see another one in the wild!!!

no oxogen sensor on the tdi me thinks its code 23 which is no1 injector

Thats what I thought but y would 23 flash 5times then 3 times?

odd, there isn't a code 53, unless this is a rogue code?

have you got access to a code reader, laptop and software?

can you video the flashes (its not that I don't believe you, its just that, well, 53 doesn't exist according to the guide!)

If yours is a petrol motor then yes it is the oxygen sensor (screwed into the side of the exhaust under passenger door, if Diesel then you do not have this sensor, but you should not get this code, Rick

Good man :thumb2 Yeah i get that too if I stall it, and unless I turn the ignition off remove the key and wait a few seconds it remains lit, I poo'd myself the first time it came on :lol:lol

Definitely 2.7tdi. Ill pop over tomorrow and video it. Was running ok with light on but now it won't go above 30 apparently.

check the MAF - clean it, and check the fuel filter, 53 might be a rogue code!:nenau

If its Hitachi, electrical contact cleaner and a very delicate hand/cotton bud combo-do not bend it break the wire.

If its bosch, buy a new one!

thats what mine was doing was code 23 needed a new no1 injector im still going with that

Normally you get a code specifically for the injector, like 23. The error would read needle lift sensor. It may be worth getting hold of a Nissan consult and laptop, you can then read the codes properly and check the main functions of the engine. Have you cleared the codes yet?

No I haven't cleared codes as I was only doing it with a paper clip I don't have a scanner or nissan consult.

you can clear the codes with the paper clip, have you checked the guide in the downloads section?
