It's never a bad day when your truck passes it's ITV (MOT) but this year it picked up it's first observation with a Lambda reading of 1.028 parts per million (the limit is 1.030).
It's a 1994 petrol Maverick which I've owned for more than 10 years now and having spent most of it's life in Spain is rust free.
I've got nearly 12 months to fix the problem before it's next test and really don't want to send an otherwise perfectly good (and much loved) truck to the scrap next year.
Any and all advice welcome so thanks in advance.
I should add that I went back on all the old test results and it appears to be a worsening problem each year.
Again Thanks.

Put some REDEX in and give it a good run up the motorway before the test that should sort it :thumb2

As said give it a good run around and get it good n hot for a while to burn all the crap out. Also a dam good service before the test too so it has every chance of having a good spark and clean fuel filter.

Almost certainly the Maff will be in need of a clean, also check all of the multitude of vac hoses for deterioration, and of course the air filter, and last but not least the EGR valve, this is not easy to check but best bet is to blank it as it will be passing gas, I have not ever seen one that seats properly, Rick

If you are not worried about pollution levels after the test!

I agree with what has been said about giving it a good run before the test with some Redex or similar product. The other thing that can work is the day before the test put in a set of new good quality spark plugs.
