So yesterday's little job was to test and swap the wiring to the front ABS sensors as the light keeps coming on after a few minutes of driving and experience has taught me that these are the most common cause of an ABS problem.
Got it up on the axle stands and whipped the front wheels off.
While i was checking and testing the passenger side wire i noticed the paint had cracked in a line across the upper ball joint mounting holes on the control arm.
Decided to investigate further so i cleaned off the paint to reveal a crack in the metal:eek:

I have a pair of spare upper control arms as I've been down this route before with a cracked upper.
I decided i would beef up my spare arms before swapping them over to give them a better chance of survival.
I made a plate from 3mm steel and welded it in the underside where the ball joint mounts.
I also welded a couple of plates on the open side of the arm to give it more strength.

Cleaned up and a coat of rust converter primer applied.

Braved the crap weather yesterday and fitted the passenger side UCA.
Didn't get any pictures as it was pissing it down.
Looks to have knocked the camber off but i was expecting that.
Will get the other side fitted then get the castor, camber and a wheel alignment done while I'm off work over Xmas.

What is it with you and cracking parts of your truck??
You need a manual gearbox and a lokka, will give you loads more control so you can take it easier on the truck 💪💪💪👍👍👍😁😁😁

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This terrano has been by far the worse for rot that I've ever owned.
Pfft about more control.
Instant power with the auto,no messing around slipping and riding the clutch.
No risk of stalling trying to climb up steps either😉😉🤣🤣🤣
It's just old,abused and battered.

It's a wrap

Been contemplating doing a vinyl wrap on the terrano for a while so last week i decided to order a roll of the stuff and give it a go.
I've got some decent, straight un marked Panels courtesy of Banshee so want to try to keep them that way.
First job was to modify a wing from a mk 1 to take the indicator.

Then i had a trial run with the vinyl.

Gone for a blue digital camo pattern.

Wrapping the spare bonnet didn't go to plan though.
Got the vinyl on and was working it onto the panel.
Had to lift one corner again to get rid of the air bubbles and it pulled the lacquer off :doh

Got to get it down to sound paint before i try again so might just spray it a matt black for now.

Made a bit more progress with the wrap today between showers.

To be honest I haven't made my mind up about it :nenau

Sorry mate do not like it, but that is just my opinion, others may say different, Rick

Jury is out for me :nenau

Need to see the whole thing.

Fair play Elty, that's not something you enter into lightly :bow

Will see how it turns out.
No doubt a few trips on the lanes will soon have it back to the bush pin stripe look:thumbs:lol
