I posted a thread just before christmas regarding my teranno not charging properly.

I did as was advised and checked earths and I checked the ignition wiring. I found that I had a loose wire in the ignition. Don't know if this was the cause as the battery was still dead.

It would only start when jumping it off another car. I chequed the voltage and on full charge it would only charge to 12.2v and sat it would read 11.4v.

So I took the battery back and they tested it and said it was dropping so they gave me a new battery. I wired it in and started it up and tested the voltage again. It read 13.4v, so I presumed that was the fault.

So for the past 2 weeks its cranked over beautifully. Until yesterday. It started after a split second but I new it was different from earlier days. I thought maybe because it was quite cold yesterday this was the problem.

I went to start it this morning and it only just started, it was like just before with the other battery. I thought again maybe its because its even colder today, but then I noticed the cd had popped out and all the preset station had reset on the stereo.

So where am I going wrong? Is it an electrical fault or do you think the alternator has had it?

I let the car run for 40 mins this morning and it charged to 12.6v, not 13.v like when I got it 2 weeks ago.

Hope you can help, this motors costing me a fortune fault finding.

Cheers Mark

Sounds like an alternator problem, check connections, especially anything earthed as they corrode. Oh and if necessaary get the alternator tested for output....

Also there is a 10 amp fuse feeding it.

have you checked the voltage while the vehicle is running?

When I put the new battery in it was running at 13.4v.

Now sat its 12.1v and running at 13v

seems a bit low that , id be looking at the alternator , first check the alt belt isnt slipping , then check the fuse before replacing the alt, try a old one from the scrappers :thumb2

looked in the specs and it says

alternater output is 14.1 to 14.7 on the specs if your only getting 13v at the battery with the engine running its not enough have the alternater reconditioned or replace it with a new one.

could be as simple as a slipping alternator belt tho , but the output is wrong , far too low
