has anyone got a pic of where this is on a terrano? the pic in the workshop manual engine bay looks different

It's usually behind the cylinder head. In-between engine and bulkhead. :thumb2
You'll see it best from the offside of vehicle.

Not all of them had one fitted, mines a 2001 2.7 S (base model with no whistles and bells!) and it does not have one.
The first job on my list of things to do was remove it, Nissan beat me to it!:lol

Same here on my 99 TDi. I spent ages looking for it, not wanting to ask and show my ignorance, until when I met Rick and asked him to point it out. Easy says he... Its right there..... Er... Well normally its right there, let me show you on mine....

sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.

It's on the drivers side of the engine at the very back between the head & bulkhead but depending on the age of your motor it might not have one my late 99 didn't have it fitted

Dunno why I've never thought before, can you just remove it all together :nenau

You can remove it but you then have two holes to blank off, one on the exhaust and one on the inlet manifold, much easier to simply insert a bit of tin to stop comunication between the two, Rick

Ahh, thus the blanking plate :thumb2

Sorry to bring this back up as I know it's an oldish thread, does your motor have one Alex? Reason I ask is our cars are the same age and if ours do have one I want to blank it off :thumb2

mine does - its an 03 plate much the same as Alex's I think. Im going to blank mine at the weekend. If I remember correctly, should be able to loosen the two bolts on the EGR, pull it back a bit and slide in a blanking plate over the bolts then re tighten. Removing the EGR is a ball ache and I don't want to do that again! Thankfully I kept a template from the last time I did mine...:thumbs

Can you buy a blanking plate off the shelf or are you making one?

If you are can I be cheeky and ask for you to make me one for a commission of course? :sly

A pic of you fitting yours as well would be awesome just so I know what I'm doing

oh ill be making mine. I traced the original EGR onto steel plate, and cut that out so its not a pro job, im happy to make you one and send it to you no problem - when are you hoping for one? Im looking to do mine this weekend (cut the plate out) so can post you one for next week? Ill do mine, make it so you can slide it in without removal of bolts and ill photo the progress....:thumbs

No off the shelf ones sadly Banshee:doh think they were fitted to every T2 after 2001/2:augie

turns out my 02 did have one,

these are the bolts you need to undo to get gasket out to put solid gasket back in

this is what you need to make up, a gasket without the hole

fit and bung up breather to egr

yeah that's exactly what I did:thumbs

this weekend though ill be doing that but cutting a long piece out up to the holes, so that the gasket can be slid over the bolts without having to remove the bolts (if I remember correctly they are awkward?)

not sure how youd know that it was covering hole exactly tho by doing that way as if not covering hole itll still work as normal at least this way you gurenteed its sealed but yes an arse of a job!!!!

I have actually got a both manifolds from earlier one that doesn't have egr cut out if any one was interested

im hoping cutting out where i have highlighted red will be sufficient - should line up perfect!

Thats sounds ace to me :D good man, let me know how much I owe you, meant to look at lunch but didn't get chance to check

Didn't they fit them on the early TD? :nenau

So they fitted to the TD removed and then re-fitted to the very late TDI's

Bloody hell Nissan :doh
