Yor bonus question for 10 points(or posts for Zippy):lol
Can I block off the EGR valve thing on my mav to try and make it go better?:nenau

Yes:D:Dnever done it as I don't have one fitted but I would think it'll be very much like the one in the downloads:augie

i did a temporary block on mine when i had some running problems by clamping the rubber hoses with some mini g clamps.i put a bit of card between the jaws so i didn't damage any of the rubber hoses.made a bit of difference so i took it off and gave it a good going over.lots of poking and wd40 did the trick.

p.s didn't know you had got a y60 patrol now:nenau:lol:lol:lol:lol

I blanked off my EGR one of the best mods I have done!

Elty, are you sure rubber pipes were EGR related, It gets pretty hot!

Hey Elty am I missin' something?
:nenaudidn't know you had got a y60 patrol now :nenau

think you posted this in the wrong topic as it says on my screen that this is the y60 forum.

as for the rubber hoses ive got two that come from the exhaust and into the egr on my petrol engine.

to save me fretting, can someone remind me which variants have or don't have an EGR?

i dont think any of your motors will have an egr valve.
its the older td deisel upto 1996(i think)and some of the petrol engines that have them.
might be wrong but no doubt some one will let me know.

Some of the later models had EGR valves fitted aswell TBH they don't seem to be age related:rolleyes:but I would expect the younger models to have them for emissions:augie

Ford never fitted an EGR valve on the nissan/maverick, not needed for UK MOT emission test. Note: all the replies were from nissan terrano owners and nissan DID fit an EGR valve to the terrano to comply with emission test in other countries.

my 1997 tdi didnt have one so i just assumed that all the others would be the same:nenau
you learn something new on here everyday:thumbs

Well I'm proper confused now!
I've got a 95 Ford maverick 2.4 petrol, it has a Nissan engine!
So what does the EGR look like I'll have a butchers in the morning:sly

My 01 TDi has NO EGR. However I believe ~03 onwards do.

Block it off yes- the best way is a metal gasket made from the side of a metal 5lite container sandwiched under the valve. Leave all actuating pipework connected.

Tim.

its a round thing with some hoses coming out of it.mine is at the back of the engine on the left(from front of motor).there is a hose that comes from the downpipe and round the back of the engine.if you follow this the egr will be on the end of it.

i got 2.4 maverick petrol with egr valve and i cant find replacement downpipe anywhere.(pain in the arse).the car is l reg 93/94 swb :)

But Ford never built 'em.......:nenau

Think you'll find lots of Mavs have them just as not all Terranos have them.

Usually its a brassy coloured thing about four inches across between the bulkhead and the back of the cylinder head, about four inches down.

Toolbox gave an excellent explanation to tie it up with the solenoids by the airbox....just do a search.
