Ah not that easy then, bugger, just amaising the difference between the Bosch set up and the Zexel, Bosch 27 mpg and good performance Zexel 18mpg and poor performance, Rick

as i know nothing :nenau can you not swap things around to change to a bosch setup :nenau

Not that Im about to do it as my newer truck is going but when you have a car remapped officially you should inform the insurance company but can they actually tell if its been done?

Yes:thumb2
An ECU remap is a notifiable issue for the insurance, and is one of the things they may check in the event of an accident where speed could have been an issue. However as I am sure this was done to increase the power for the towing capability and safety, not in any way to increase the top speed, I am sure the insurance company will be understanding. :clap:clap

very interesting stuff, im curious about MPG/power gains and of course HOW MUCH!!!!

I don't think there's much chance of increased top end of worth. It's how it gets there :D
Alex implied it was 150 quid last week ;)

I'm afraid I cant help with figures chaps, sorry

Sony Nevis welcome to a blast in the chip fat wagon to see the power, I'm quite shocked.

Rick when I next visit we can do the hill test on the rough track :thumb2

If you guys have any questions I can ask the chap.

Do note he is just a man in a van covering london, but he did over 300 cars last year, sometimes 5 or 6 in a day, x5s and x6s were common he said, and some high powered audi too.

I asked him about issues and he said only on a select few when people were demanding ridiculous power it left flat spots.

His kit is about 10,000 quids worth, he is opening a premises soon with dyno. :thumb2

I think it might have been faster but I bailed out...

On racetrack last night I went straight up to 85 without a second thought as before it would be like climbing a constant hill to reach that... (Bumpers n tyres ect)

120 I paid, took about an hour with two road tests :thumb2

wow, that's good. I'd love to hear feedback on economy, though it sounds like he didn't do the "economy" remap, more the power one. Id be looking for the economy remap with a little increase in response and power.

No way, the loom is different as is the pump/maf/throttle pedal/ecu/injectors etc, Rick

Presuming ultimately this all about fueling. Getting more in. The boost isn't going to charge is it?

Really need to be on a dy no to know what it's giving vs using more diesel.

Do yo get a report. What would you tell insurer to quantify increases vs risk.

What of decrease in reliability vs performance.

Did I see suggested 158 bhp which sounds like 3.0 tdi or around what some of add on boxes suggest.

yes I need to know more, yours is a Bosch set up, can he do the same on a zezel, Rick

I presume if you have the later plug in obd2 as mine, zexel or Bosch should be fine to remap.

And for thomas, the insurer will never plug in and read the ecu, even main dealers rarely do this unless software upgrade is needed (on new motors only)

Obviously it will put the engine under more stress, it has to, but it only goes like stink if you put the foot down, it's still a calm motor unless you want to fly :thumb2

The missus reported the terrano is smoother and much faster.

All the remap sites suggest a 2.7tdi goes from 125bhp to 158bhp, this guy did the stock map upgrade, them on the second map he did some tweaking and that's when the power was there. I've been foot flat to floor in first second and third to test for clutch slip, all appears ok. :thumb2

No I have the older style plug, as makeitfit pointed out to do mine needs a new chip putting in the ecu, Rick

Alternative option

for older models there is this option ?

Yes that's right, I rang them and they could not help with mine, only the older terranos :thumb2

Here is the chaps web address, he has sent the standard map back that looks a little interesting, it's all in crazy code :lol

Have a look over his site.

http://www.capital-tuning.co.uk/

looks good, about 20% up on horses n torques

mind scroll to 2.0 dci x trail, modded makes same as modded trol.....
virtually 100bhp/litre and 405Nm, wonder if could get that motor into T2?
indeed stock xt makes more than zd!

ok in old money 405Nm is 299 lb.ft yes please

So what possible difference is there between the Maverick and terrano that can loose 2 BHP and many torques ?
Weird
That's also a whole barrow full of dollar for the same gain you get with a powerbox chip at 25-30 bhp . Typically around 120 quid :nenau

Most Mav's that I have seen are Zexel while most Terrano's are Bosch although not hard and fast, Rick

Ah, maybe that's it but I thought the Zexel thing was simply age related across models . So I guess they mean the Zexel set up as opposed to just Mavericks.

Any rolling roads down your way Rick ? It would be interesting to see what Alex's truck is pumping out, esp torque figures :D
