right then as the colder weather is here sort of i thought id share my veg heat exchanger with other svo/veg burners on here.

i have before tried an electric fuel heater a few different types to no avail. so to keep things simple i thought heat exchanger with out having to plumb one in.

my solution is to reroute the fuel pipe from the fuel filter its already in replacement clear plastiv via the rad a couple of wraps over/a round the rad then with in a few mins of starting hey presto hot veg oil to the IP.

of course there is nothing stopping you fron running the fuel filter inlet pipe the same way then you get a nice warm fuel filter full of hot veg oil doh think thats better time to redo my fuel pipes lol

Another point the rad stops cold for a while until the thermostat opens to allow flow through the rad to cool the water. Wrapping the fuel filter in bubble wrap would poss help:nenau TBH I would be worried about the fuel line rubbing on the rad or hose

8mm copper pipe is your friend my stat opens with in a few mins the top of the rad is nice and hot. I don't usually have any problems with the cold svo I winterize it and keep a pop bottle of the stuff outside so I know what its like in the tank.

It's an easy almost cost free mod

What no pics,

Trouble with heating the oil when engin is cold, you need to heat the oil thats in the injectors and pump. Anywhere else is usless.

But, when running if oil is warm makes for a smoother run even in summer

Also boot floor gets very warm on a long run

I like the idea, even though the initial few mins need tackling still. :thumb2
