could be the bushes on ya shocks are worn and vibrating :nenau

That's not a bad shout, how do you check these?

just look at the shocks where they mount on it will be obvious but if not give them a wiggle if the move from side to side in any way then the bushes are what is technically known as fooked :lol

Technically known as eh :naughty :clap

As these have LSD's and that rely's on the same tyre pattern and tyre size and pressure, are both of tour rear tyres exactly the same...just a thought. :)

Yeah both brand new, I changed them thinking that was the problem. I don't understand why the noise at only 65 mph:nenau

Resonance...
Something vibrating at it's natural frequency.

Could be tyres, bearings, even exhaust.
You have eliminated quite a few things, but on my prop shaft there is a balance weight welded on, is there any sign that you might have lost one... if fitted.
Try moving wheels to front, and see if the speed of the vibration changes.

At 65mph, should be able to use 4th gear or 5th, is it the same in both gears, ie at the same speed.?:nenau

Apart from, buy a caravan, and tow it, then legally you can't go over 60mph, :lol this is getting to be a difficult one, unless you find someone who would swap parts, like for like.

If it's just 65 and no other speed, I would sit below or above that speed.
As Rustic said, You have changed and checked most things, so you know nothing is broken or about to fall off.
Just live with it :nenau

Can I throw another Idea in the equation here?

You mention it's worse when you have passengers in the back, have you checked the springs and cups, possibly a cracked or collapsed spring or worse yet the cup attached to the body that it sits in could be rotting away from the chassis?

Yeah, theory says  its gotta be something suspension related as with passengers in the back the body will shift more.

and I guess the faster you go the force is increased on the rear right.

Accelerate = pressure on rear

brake = pressure on front... :nenau

Hi again to you all, I'm still having trouble with the drumming from the rear at speeds over 50mph. Today I got the back end up in the air and removed the rear prop shaft and the noise disappeared ??? So I replaced the prop and replaced the lsd oil in rear diff but no change. The prop ujs were only changed 1 year ago and seem to be fine ,the weights on the prop shaft are all there, and I even removed the two rear wheels and noise is still there ??? Could it be one of the bushes on the rear axel or bearing in rear diff ??? I've checked rear wheels and can't feel any play at all ??

how did you test this? did you drive it up the road on the front axle? (4 wheel drive) if not then not a fair test, Rick

Didn't think you could do this on the T2 due to once the rear prop is off oil will poor out of the g/box on lever ground:confused: know you can with LR's once you select centre diff lock as i've had to do it in the past:doh
