Didn't think you could do this on the T2 due to once the rear prop is off oil will poor out of the g/box on lever ground:confused: know you can with LR's once you select centre diff lock as i've had to do it in the past:doh

yes you can, just place a bit of plastic tube the right diameter in the oil seal with the end tapped off, will do for a few miles to eliminate, but he obviously did not do this so still open ended as to the cause, Rickl

My noise turned out to be the tyres. Since fitting my new ones no annoying noise at 50-60mph :thumb2

Cheers for the info Rick:thumbs sadly it's not a simple get you home bodge if you kill a prob or uj like you can with a LR. Had to do the UJ's on my disco V8 felt strange having that as a FWD motor but when all 3 uj's went on the front prop had to run it as a RWD motor for 2 weeks it was interesting to drive to say the least as it was 100% more tail happy in the wet than a T2 with over due diff oil:lol

how did you test this? did you drive it up the road on the front axle? (4 wheel drive) if not then not a fair test, Rick

I got the back end up in the air on stands and yes I did loose a little oil but was sure to top it back up.

Has anyone ever bought the set of 10 bushes from milners to do the rear axel bushes ??
