Hi guys ever since I first got the 05 plate truck the drivers inner handle has been a bit loose. Just got around to looking at it, I was thinking it would be a loose screw. So the plastic moulding around the handle has two plastic buttons, popped them off to reveal two screws. One of the screws was pretty much tight but the other wasnt. Problem is this screw wont tighten so what ever it screws into must have a stripped thread or somethign. Has anyone got any ideas about what it screws into?

No idea but mines getting loose too.
Think it's to do with how you climb in. Too much weight on it when sliding onto the seat.
And that's a standard truck. How do you guys manage with your lifted trucks and no side steps.

Mine screws into a plastic insert that clips into the frame.
So you could fit a helicoil or similar, or engineer a nut into the plastic.
But this might involve removing the complete door card, but gives you an opportunity to waxoyl the doors and / or derust your window slide mechanism... or add some grease etc.:thumb2

Yeah i was wondering something along those line Rustic, theyre also a different shape to the older type. Older type seemed stronger to me but we know that sort of truck dont we.

I think rustic has a " older type of truck " ..... hes had it for quite some time I believe :augie:lol

Rustic is spot on the screw, screws into a plastic insert that clips into the inner door skin IIRC

Was looking at Sweetys audio thread and noticed the culprits on a photo of the door without the card on it. So the whole card off, oh what fun. Not sure whether to get a replacement plastic block thing or to try and stick summat in the hole.

Might simply try removing the screw and stick a match in there and see if the screw will hold tight that way without removing the card.

I have removed the driver's door card at least twice, once to fit a door lock solenoid, so I could fit remote control locking, and the other time to replace the driver's door mirror, :doh now I happen to recall that job only took around half an hour in total, so not too difficult a job.

Another option, might be to fit a rawl plug or similar, but I don't think the outcome would be more than ending up with just a bigger clearance hole.:doh

A better and more permanent solution, if the bolt is metric, is a helicoil, it should work out stronger than the original thread.:thumb2
Or alternatively some form of nut sert, but what you don't want is something that rotates in the hole, making the bolt impossible to remove.

On similar situations, I have inserted a nut or a threaded strip of metal through the side of the plastic insert.

Hope it helps,
best regards,
Rustic
