Anyone come across this problem - not having remote central locking on my Mistral, I put the key in the door yesterday to lock the car, turned it the wrong way for locking (as you do) I noticed that the linkage seemed to jump and the key jammed 45 degrees to the left, could not shift it at all.
As I had no tools in the car I called out the RAC, they arrived in less than half an hour!
the patrol then diagnosed that the lock barrel was shot, went on to remove the door card - used the wrong screwdriver and f#d up the screws! - an unbelievable string of dock yard curses followed by: "you will have to take the car to nissan - its an import I cant fix it"
He then took me home for the spare key and left me to sort it out! drove to where my tools were (mates workshop where I am sorting my offroader).
in less than 10 minutes the knackered screws were drilled out and the door card removed - problem solved!
The lock connects to a linkage, somehow the crank on the end had over stroked and jammed - with a little force and a turn of the key the linkage came around and the key came out of the lock. simple fix and no help at all (other than a lift home) from the 4th emergency service - Why the hell am I paying them £120..............?

hi,havent had this problem but have just had remote entry fitted to my mistral, cost was $125nz dollars about 50pounds bloody good not having to fumble around on cold wet nights trying to get the key in the door.cheers

ive been told i need to have a actuator fitted to the drivers door if i wish to upgrade to central locking

hi,yes thats what they did to mine,it was 25nz dollars the guy fitting the unit put it in,took an extra 10-15 mins cheers

Maplin do a door central locking solenoid, I recall they had 2 versions when I installed mine, a 2 wire or a 3 wire,I think it depends on the electronics.
I fitted a Sparkrite Alarm, that had the option of a central locking controller and I bought and fitted that, but then that was nearly 15 years ago, it was easy to fit mechanically, and has worked ever since.
When fitting the alarm, I was very reluctant to start cutting wires and installing wires, when I didn't have a schematic.
But I checked twice and cut once.
Regards, Rustic
