Double din

Hi, has anyone tried fitting a double room into their T2 yet. I'm going to have a go shortly.

I will watch this with interest, although I have read in the past that there is some pretty major cutting and sculpting needed to get a double DIN in there, as the current radio is only actually 1.5DIN high and not full width for the whole height.

Please take plenty of pictures.

Will do but it could all go pear shaped. I will probably have to lose the cup holders but their a bit rubbish anyway. Might relocate them but not sure where.

I have and its an arse theres plenty of room but you have to cut the surrounds and not easy to get that right. Mines in but need alt of fettling

How many dash types are there? My 99 has the older single cup holder, easily changed single DIN radio, and Suz 2001 has the twin cup holder, hazard switch in the built in taller radio.

I read somewhere though the dash change was not until 2003, so is there a third dash?

My 2002 has twin cup holder under radio and did have hazzard switch in radio. Will put pics up in min of double din but remember work in progress as not pretty at moment. You've been warned lol

I've gotta sort hazzard switch and refit cup holders and not quite happy with angle of head unit but does just about fit

Mines the same as your 01 then and I'd love to change the audio setup. I'd lose the 2 vents and keep the cup holders I think. But not brave enough to!

I need to extend wires as gonna put it other side of steering wheel. At moment its still original switch and loom just relocated

Ah right, mine has it built into head unit, I'll find the wires off wiring diagram or summat

Mine had the adapter so you could fit any single din headunit so hazzard switch was seperate already

I think I've seen a kit to do it, bloody expensive

Yeh I only saw one and it was £150 Bring on the fibreglassing

I'm gonna make a ply panel and cover in black leather nice and simple but want to angle head unit a bit better

My dash is the same as yours Madmark and my hazard switch is in the radio too. Haven't decided where I'm putting that yet and I'm no good with electrictrickery so I'll get t'other 'Alf to do that bit. Don't mind losing the cup holders if I have to. This is the story so far and please be patient as I'm known to be easily distracted and I've got drawers and storage to make for the back yet.
