Yay I did it right. I will do a bit of a step by step thing when I get the photos downloaded onto my computer

my 52 plate, registered december 2002 has a single din, with hazard in its own hole
above, oh and cup holder. Looks wasteful of the space and atleast hazard is independent.

I'm looking for hints on where the screws are that hold the front on are. guess one is
behind ash try. for another project wondered about squeezing small cb into that area.

There is acres of room in there. There are two screws behind the ash tray and two at the very bottom so you need to take the trim off from around the gear sticks. That bit just pulls off but be gentle. When you lift that you can see the screws underneath. Thinking I might put some USB sockets where the ashtray goes but haven't decided yet.

Hazard switch is simple to sort once you find the right wire from the multi plug.
Have changed mine from the radio with switch built in to a single din with a home made facia and hazard light switch.

funny how dashes are designed.

our second car is now a 60 plate c max, it has a basic ford 6000 radio thats atleast
double din, probably more as its fascia looks wider framed still.

then loads of room in dash around it. the radio functions are so basic would easily
fit in a single din but spread out on big buttons.

was looking at how many top end or top spec replacements there are got me back
to the t2 issues.

btw, it may be on facebook but sure seen someone swapping out the surround to
one from say pre 99, with hazard and other buttons underneath radio where cup
holders are in newer dashes, seemed to give more room to play with above too
and the hazard got mounted in area where thumb rollers are for vents but all
vents survived with rollers.

Why ever don't they put £10 p+p on it to round it up to an even £100!
Scandalous
