Hi everybody,

Hope there is help in Nissan 4x4 land,
Windscreen wipers seem to have a mind of their own.
Turn them on works fine on occasion when they are turned off they (windscreen wipers) do not stop until they decide to, could be a couple of minutes could be until i pull the relay. When the relay is put back in they sometimes switch off and sometimes don't.

Driving me nuts ... any ideas please

Regards Paul

I've a transit at work that when switched off the relay goes mental and the wipers continue for various amounts of time until they've had enough.
Hasn't been fixed yet but I'm guessing it's the relay:thumb2

Think there’s somekind of park sensor in the motor, it has been covered on here but not for a long time.

Good job we live in a country where it rains a lot, or it would look stupid...

On the nearside bulkhead near the wiper motor is the relay, on most it was mounted terminal side UP, when eventually the rear bonnet rummer lets water in it drips on this unit and it traps water inside, cure is to remove it, clean it and adjust its mount so terminals are as near down as possible, Rick

thank you all for the response i will be trying all suggestions and once its solved i will post what my particular solution was.
BTW if i unplug a relay in the fuse box the wipers stop... not sure till i look if there is one outside in the front panel by wipers

regards paulp

Go with Solarmans suggestion first, I’ve had that relay go twice on my old truck amd now when I think about it wasn’t it Alex that had issues with that relay box.
