I tell you whats funny, regulations insisting that bull bars are illegal yet lorries like his are allowed to wear all sorts of armour
Yeah makes no sense does it :S if you have a little look on his bumper he has a bull bar!!!

here's a quick question someone may be able to answer, do I have to go through the insurance to claim for whiplash

Well yes, ideally you want to be seen by someone and a report made... Usually takes a day or two so I've been told to get symptoms of whiplash.

But when I had my motorcycle crash i mentioned everything, from gear, to injury's to loss of earnings. Perhaps you can claim for time lost or tickets for places ect :nenau

If you paid that little extra for legal assistance leave it to them, worth every penny.
A friend had whiplash, was offered peanuts, after she spoke to her insurers she got 3 grand.
I hope you went to hospital to have the injury assessed, whiplash does not show for a day or two, adrenaline and all that.
You will need the police incident number

You don't have to pay for this these days, there are loads of companies that will fight for your custom no win no fee. Mccams was the daddy for motorcycle claims, saw it first hand witht many customers, walking away with grands worth within a month or several :thumb2

There must be a car equivalent :nenau

Just hand it over to your insurance company and let them do everything. We had a shunt a few years ago, nothing serious, low speed. Didn't have whiplash, but a few days later we had other companies ringing up wanting to know if our necks hurt

End of the day, when you have 40 odd tons bearing down on you, bull bar or not, it's going to hurt

An update guys

I've contacted my insurance company and letting them deal with it, I've not got the time or the patience to be messed around by cowboys.

They've also put me on to a legal firm who will also be fighting my personal injury claim for my painful neck

Hopefully the will write my car off, pay me out, let me buy it back at a fraction of the price and I'll be looking at buying a new Terrano/Maverick a bit newer and will start again with it

What was wrong with plan a £40 worth of damage there should think repair bill at nissan would be well in excess of £1000 they dont look like cowboys 14 plate tractor unit. If you go through insurance hope all your mods are declared or they may not pay out anyway

All mods are declared but after thinking about it I don't think I declared my snorkel  whoops :doh

I went into a Nissan dealership on the island who quoted me £844 for the door, £550 for the glass, £325 for the spare wheel carrier and I didn't even bother with going down the route of pricing the wiper motor etc etc

Well the reason I say that they are cowboys is because, he was trying to tell me they had a scrap metal business as well and they were going to scour the yard for one  didn't even ask me if I wanted to go through the insurance like it wasn't an option.

I think you are going down the correct route but have to say it does highlight the need to declare any mods of any kind. That said it wasnt your fault so chances are they wont be interested but you have plenty time to get home and remove anything and then patch up.

I'm still here, heard nothing back from the insurance yet but got to go see a Physio in Birmingham next week and had my courtesy car dropped off yesterday

some insurance companies will give you a car that is the same as yours or as near as they can get as a courtesy vehicle, otherwise, you might have ended up with a citroen C1 or something like that

I've got you :)

Yeah they originally tried to give me a 2003 Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab Pickup and I declined told them I wanted a Terrano or a Land Rover and this is what I got :thumb2

Nice courtesy car :thumbs Have to admit to having a soft spot for Defenders :augie

Just as well you're going to the physio - it's been quite a few years since I last drove one but I do remember it being a bit cramped :sly :augie

I've got to admit mate, they are lovely to look at and I've always wanted one ever since I was a kid but now I've driven one, I think I'll pass..............

Drives nowhere near as good as my 19 year old Maverick and is nowhere near as comfortable, my Mav is so refined compared to this

A point to remember:
as SOON as you AGREE the insurance payment value for your vehicle, the courtesy car will be re-called post haste.
So it may pay you to slightly delay agreeing the payment.
