Only way i can see is to cut and add some metal to this area but will probably effect how the whole part lines up at the bottom.
Would have to change the angle slightly on the upright but that could effect how it lines up to the door pillar:nenau

It's a damn strong section there but had thought of a cut along the gutter line. Then a bit stretch and squish.
Defo no rash decisions on this bit as I want it to look factory or as most people say, to look Elty 😁

I wouldn't go as far as saying my work is that good but appreciate the comment.
I'm watching with great interest on this thread as i have a terrano i want to chop into a pick up and i also want to use the very rear of the roof to keep the factory shape of the cab.
No doubt I'm going to face a similar problem when cutting and shutting it back together :lol

2020 and we're still chopping and shopping :lol :lol

Apparently a CHOP SHOP is motor vehicle theft, a chop shop is a location or business which disassembles stolen vehicles, primarily cars, for the purpose of selling their parts. The term originated from the practice of building a car from two halves by welding them together.
If only it was as easy as joining two halves :lol:lol:lol

I looked at a few ute chop threads and it looks like a few have maybe gone for a more functional than neat weld and then tidied it with filler dude

Funny old day, had to go to work :eek::(
Consequently didn't get much done on the Trol but did start attacking my Y61 back axle.
I bought them years ago for the 4.6 diffs, then stored them under plastic covers. Seemed like a good idea but the plastic let water in and not out, causing some spectacular Titanic style rust :(
It was that bad I was able to rip off the top arm mounts with my bare hands :jerkit: and didn't even take a pic :doh
Here's the first pic I took when I realised

The surface rust is deep

Anyway in pure optimist mode I continued:augie

Slider pins still worked and there's loads of meat on the pads :lol

Nice bit of patina showing up now

Maybe just maybe I'll get away with it after all ? Here's a section with the top arm mounts removed.

I'll be making the rear suspension a 4 point set up and bracing the casing , a bit like this.

Sand blasting next week so gotta get this prepped a bit more before then.
Lockdown in Wales is lifting

I remember you doing a major rebuild chassis job years back. Do you still have it ?

He's just done some significant and fantastic weld repairs to it again in his project thread, last time I saw it, it was back in action towing a trailer I think in there too :naughty :thumb2

Banshee, beat me to it.

Still got the Patrol and it is earning its keep. Now I finally got a garage I could do with taking the body of and sort out this hard to get at patches. So I like the stand you made for the body.

However I have also been thinking about upgrading to a pickup as the fuel economy of the patrol with a 2.5 tonne trailer behind it is not brilliant. But I am too attached to the Patrol and don’t really want to add a fourth car to a two person household. :D

I've just got myself caught up on this thread... WoW, amazing! :bow I can't wait to see how it comes along!
