Hi everyone

My name is Brian and i'm new to your club and very soon to be a Ford Maverick owner. I have to say i'm a complete newbie as this will be my first car i'm picking things up as i'm going along. I'm living out in Switzerland and they seem to have a lot of quality used cars and i'm particularly impressed with this Ford Maverick i've seen.

I plan on buying a first registered Sept 2008 Ford Maverick 2.3-16v

It looks to be in perfect condition and only 17000km on the clock. One simple query I have though that the front and rear tyres are a different brand. They both look new with good thread depth and don't look out of sorts on the car but my friend was telling me this is something to really look out for?

Any advice would be really appreciated and I look forward to learning along with everyones posts on this forum.

All the best
Brian

Always a good idea to have matching tyres, due to effects of economy, grip, handling etc, if the tyres differ, it will affect the quality of drive.
nothing wrong with that setup though, so don't worry about the mismatched tyres

Good luck

I appreciate the quick reply. I guess what you mean is that with the front tyres the same and the rear tyres the same then I shouldn't need to worry. However if all 4 tyres were different then its something to consider right?

I'll let you all know how it goes anyways. Will be doing my first test drive in 2 hours :)
Any other tips?

Brian I'm assuming you mean the badged Mazda Tribute?

Few if any of those on here I'm afraid, mostly the earlier Ford Maverick badged Nissan Terrano.

Mixed tyres between axles isn't an issue but make sure they are same size as it can upset the 4WD......mixed on the same axle is a no-no. :thumb2

yes, as Lacroupde says, mixed on same axel is the no -no, same on each axel is fine. TBH you'll probably not really notice on a 4x4 any way, its usually cars with a sportier pedigree that you notice. Like on my Mazda MX6, you notice, on our old renault 5, you dont!

its a big no no for odd wheels on any axel with a terrano buggers the transfer box up fast if they are odd sizes. not sure about the newer mavericks / tribute's.

ask terra he will advise

Welcome to the club, Brian. Nice to have you on board! :thumb2
