Seems like he's not got his centre diff locked.

I've 2 mates with em in 4x4 Response and they're not bad motors really. Same running gear as a pajero but with a monocoque body on. Let down by very long wheel base and lack of chassis meaning body lifts aren't possible. The 2 I know have 2" lifts and 31s on and showed up a few other vehicles last time out at Tong.

and thats not even the bit everyone worries about.... looks similar but its not the steps near the bridge.

we do it in the dark most weeks

take you up there one night:cool:

Half expected a team of Navvies to turn up and start laying some tarmac .
Obviously don't have much articulation on them and also a high centre of gravity .
Not sure why he made such hard work of it as they have a centre difflock !
Looked like he had it in high box as well , the way it took off up the track once he conquered the steps.
Having said all that at least they are out there enjoying themselves :thumb2
I've actually had one of those L400 Delicas and they are brilliantly versatile on the inside :augie

and they turn over on the motorway! bri

Mate , just try braking and swerving on the motorway in a T2 ......people in glass houses and all that :augie
If someone gets in my way on the motorway , I might try braking to lose a bit of speed , but if they're still there I'm going right thru 'em rather than swerve . 4x4's aren't made for high speed maneuvres
I don't mean to sound callous , but I reckon that gives me and mine the best chance of survival :bow
Personally , I'm driving a 2 1/2 T killing machine and I give it some respect :naughty I practice defensive driving in my Patrol and try and anticipate the road ahead but it's the other nuts behind the wheel that'll get you :D

you have a point:thumbs
I know if I was in danager you save those most dear to you and then the others thats life:thumbs

I know its each to their own but those things grate on me by looks alone theyre horrible :p

Very good points and ones that a massive proportion of m way users dont even think about.

If you talk to a decent HGV driver, particularly hazardous goods , chemical tankers etc, they will tell you the same (bound to be one on here ?? ) , that's why they get so pissed off with the type of bod the BMW thread takes the p out of, lane hogging, filling their safety gap etc.

The heavies generally cant and therefore wont swerve without massively increasingly the risk to more people. So if you've put yourself in the way :(

Sobering thought eh

Once had a very scary incident in a Cavalier a few years ago:eek:

Driving up the newly opened M74 at Gretna just before Xmas.
Weather conditions were not good.
I saw 2 blue lights in the distance. Me thinks Police parked on hard shoulder, how wrong was I:eek:

I was passing a middle lane muppet who was hogging middle lane, nothing on inside lane. Road was not straight, sweeping bend.

I get along side muppet and what do I see, 2 Granada's parked in the fast lane WTF:eek: Slame on the anchor's (no ABS) and wheels lock, so off/on with brakes to slow me down. Muppet in middle lane stayed in middle lane so I couldn't move over, he even slowed down at the same rate as me.

Gets down to 30mph'sh and things turn into slow motion. Say to myself I am not hitting into a parked up car so I positioned my car between the cars and barrier.
One of the cops who was keeping lookout for his bubbies (they were looking for something in centre reservation) saw what I was doing and I saw him shout and all 4 of them dived over the barrier to get out my way.
:thumbs
Got between Police cars and crash barrier and stopped just in front of them. Got out and gave them some verbal abuse for parking in fast lane. Checked car and found smashed OS indicator dented wing and door mirror hanging off:doh Police asked if everyone was ok, wife and 2 kids in the car and he told us to GTF.

That gave me a serious scare and I'll be honest, it really changed the way I drive. Have been on IAM courses a few times since then.

Self preservation is just a natural thing:bow

:)

Hazard perception, defensive driving, able to stop within line of sight ;)

One my earliest most scariest moments was trying to slow the traffic in lane 3 of the A19 @ a busy time amazing how many people didnt see lots of flashing lights & high viz clad people :doh

Dave I know exactly what you mean:thumbs

At the time of my scare, because the road was a sweeping left bend all I could see was 2 blue lights that looked like they were on the hard shoulder:eek: in the distance:nenau

I had a great time trying to explain that to my insurance, ended up fixing car myself:doh

Talking of the A19. I don't go near it a busy times unless I have no option. Don't you love the flyovers slip roads onto slip roads:eek: How the designers got away with that is beyond me:eek:

I know where your coming from with what you say :thumbs I think we've all been or nearly been there for various reasons and its scary , I've seen cops and Highways agency patrols parked on various spots and wondered wtf they doing there :nono

At least YOU were ok ;)

A19? hate it in a strange way :naughty

We had a leaking tanker last year (well one of the companies did!!!) we made the decision as it was in a small layby to close lane one and keep two going. McAlpines did an excellent job slowing and closing but I just couldnt believe the rubber neckers , actually following their line of site whilst losing concentration ....towards us! seemingly forgetting there were cars in front of them....pratts!!!
