Absolutely gutted! Over the past few weeks I've serviced the truck, including changing the diff oil, had four new Toyo Open Country AT's fitted, sourced a suitable lead to connect my Ipod to the Blaupunkt MP65 stereo, all in readiness for my 500 mile drive to Aviemore.

2 miles up the motorway into the journey last Friday there's a shudder and the 'Check Engine' light comes on. I managed to limp all the way up to Northampton on the M1 then back to my tame local garage in MK at 50mph max and no pulling power. Connected straight up to his diagnostic equipment, and a bit of digging shows a knackered main 'needle' injector. Got to come from Germany (absolutely typical that it's a 'superior quality' German component that's broken!) and the part alone is £200! So back home to swap into the wife's shopping car - a 1.4 petrol Fiat Idea - Christ my back aches now :(.

Still, at least we're here, and the Mav will be going in next Tuesday to be fixed...

..and now someones gonna come along and spoil your day by telling you how you could have done it for a tenner....:augie

Sadly its not me.....

What were you going to Aviemore for? I fell in love with a girl who worked in the local chipshop when I was there with the RAF in, errr, well lets skip that shall we....it was probably in black and white.

We've got a timeshare place up there.

At least I managed to save around £110 in fuel costs by taking the wife's car - I can put that towards fixing mine...

See, there always an upside! LOL. Still, would have been nice to be able to park wherever you wanted!

I've got the same probem with mine - have had for months, can stil outrun 300TDis but not TD5s like I used to be able to, trick is to use the torque and not rev it which is totally foreign to me LOL.

I was quoted £140 by getting it from a Bosch agent rather than a Nissan main stealer.

Result! All fixed for a shade under £300 including VAT:)

Can I plug a good garage here (I've no 'interest' in it, so it's unbiased)?

Marlin Motors in Milton Keynes - I do most of my own work, but these are the only guys I'd trust to wield a spanner near my car otherwise, and I've been using them for years.
