So what involved with changing the bulbs in the speedo ect, I see banshee has just done his on e facelift model, didn't want to hijack his thread

I've had some blue LEDs in the boot for ages now but never got around to getting them done, my poor dash is only half lit now...

From what I remember with my earlier Terrano there two screws just above the speedo cluster. Think I had to remove the panel just below. It's a long time ago tho.
Only thing when fitting the LEDs to watch for is polarity, test the lights before putting it all back together. Think Briggie once did them on his Misty years ago too.

Alex, yours will be the same as Banshee's, my 2005 is the same as my old 2001 for access to the dash bulbs.

Its a simplish jobby

Top speedo shroud off, 4 screws to remove the clocks from the dash and the clocks can then be pulled forwards and bulbs can be accessed without having to remove the grey and brown plugs from the clocks (I've heard of members having massive central locking problems after removing those plugs!!!!!)

The dial lights are the ones with the black holders, brown are warning bulbs, the blue ones x3 in the top odometer are bulbs that are only availible from Nissan at £2.08 a piece so try not to touch those if you can help it

Hey Alex, any chance of photos when you do yours please.

Just a thought how about a how to guide for the downloads section, I'll help you put it together if you want.

Excellent idea as I could do with changing some bulbs, and you can never go wrong with pictures.

If you get bright spots once the led's are fitted take them out & lightly sand the tip of the led's which stops it in most cases:thumbs

Good idea!!!! I suppose by scuffing the ends the light refracts more out of the sides of the bulbs and doesn't cause the bright spots on the speedo face :clap

I changed the 3 blue ones that illuminate the display fairly straight forward job & they were available on e. bay

That's the idea:thumbs never fitted led's myself but know a few Astra owners who have & this was how they got around the bright spots or at least calmed them down loads

Hi Steve, I wonder if you recall where or who on eBay you got the blue led lights from, I've just been searching eBay having seen your comment but can't dig them up for love nor money !!

Hope u can help?

I can't remember off hand I will look in to it. I would fit bulbs rather than leds if I was doing them again

Try searching T5 bulb it brings up quite a few :thumb2

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that, I appreciate your help, I called the main dealer and they wanted £4 odd plus VAT each the thieving so n so's.... And they want £30 odd plus VAT for the clear lens on the front of the speedo.... They can forget it, I'll leave the broken one in place !!

I'll be ordering 10 lights for less than the price of one now !!!

My forum subscription has paid for itself once again !!

Have you thought about cutting up the case of a CD to replace the front of the speedo. I know a chap that used one, gently heated it in the oven (I think ), to get the curve and then cut and shape.

Not sure how many attempts it took.

:nenau

So, just bringing this back to life,

So i see plenty of T5 bulbs, I want to get blue LED, but there seems to be different types of T5 bulbs...

Also can anyone link the other bulbs "Nissan only" bulbs for the LCD? :thumb2

Whats involved in changing the centre console heater control lights?

I'm thinking about putting somekind of upgraded lighting under the auto selector because it's a bit on the dull side. Has anyone ever taken that apart to replace the bulb?
