Hi All,
Just got my 06 Pathfinder Aventura, well, got it three weeks ago. Cracking piece of engineering. However i seem to be having problems setting the cruise.

Driving along at say 40mph, select cruise on the steering wheel, and then press set. Sometimes it works other times it just don't. Other times it sets and then jumps out of cruise totally...............but sometimes its fine.

Any ideas???

Cheers in advance

You just need to stick some new velcro under the throttle mate, simples :lol

I dont understand how cruise control can work with a manual gearbox, auto you set the speed
and the cruise and auto box sort it out. With manual you could set the speed for a ratio that did not suit speed i.e 30mph but in 5th gear where a terrano would shake its self to pieces.

Perhaps the pathfinder has a gismo that stops you using an unsuitable cruise/speed/ gear set up?
Just a thought, regards bri

I've seen some on manuals that have a actuator under the dash at the throttle and when you set the speed the actuator holds the pedal in the required position to achieve the desired speed....tis a pretty neat idea:cool:

This system I saw on a BMW at the scrapyard

I find a brick works well.

I have owned a several vehicles with manual transmission & cruise control.
Most will "drop out" when vehicle speed drops to <20mph or engine rpm <1200 rpm.

I have it on my manual BMW, It does work well, but only one motorways.
If your in town they dont mind being set to 30 mph and will do this in 5th gear alday long, i think 25mph is the lowest you can set them. The down side to them, is following a prat in a car that dont know what staying at 30mph is. One second he is doing 30 then brakes for a corner to 25mph then speeds back up, then back down and so on.

Anyway, back to your problem, my guess (And its only a guess) is a sensor problem, you going to need to get it booked in at a good Auto shop. Your not touching the clutch or brake at any point are you. It could however be as simple as a bad connection on the on / off switch, check there first.

Got cruise control on my manual pathy
It works fine around 50-80 never used it as low as 40
If u dip clutch or touch brake it drops out u can accelerate and then take ur foot off pedal and it will slow to set speed but it is easy to catch the on/off button on wheel

Other than that don't know much more about it

Cheers people for your replies.....
Gonna go to the drawing board to muse over things..

Ok peeps, been doing some mileage recently, and all seems to be ok...........probably just me.
Went to Devon last weekend and all the way down the 303 it was perfect, again on the M5, and the A361.

Thanks fro the replies tho..............:nenau

All sorted now, it was a faulty park/neutral switch on the gearbox, Nissan did it for me, and I have claimed on my guarantee........happy days
