Help please guys.
I've cleared all the old codes from my 2.7 TDi, and have been left with 1
It's 0407, or 47 - Crankshaft position sensor.
From what I've found on the net, it runs from the rightmost connector on the cluster just behind the battery, to the front of the engine block to the right of the fan.
When trying to find a replacement, all I can find is the one with the rectangular connector, but mine has a more rounded type connector block.
Does anyone know where I can properly identify and buy a new sensor?
Any advice would be appreciated.

What year is yours?

Mine is a 96 and the sensor is on the front of the engine just below the water pump. The later ones are on the back of the engine just above the gearbox. Not sure on the date change but others will on here.

All depends on what set up you have the Bosch one is located on the bell housing behind the cylinder head & the wiring for it go's around the back of the engine & onto the drivers side & plugs into the wiring loom between the dip stick/back of engine area:thumbs If it's a Hitachi set up then i'm sure it's on the front of the engine but you need to know which system you have first as you can't use a bosch sensor on a hitachi set up vice versa:augie check your MAF to see which set up you have

If it's Bosch it'll be there on the bell housing but it's a pig to see:doh found looking from the passenger side is the only way to just see it but you can feel it by hand

Cant you find out which one you have by checking the block connector by dipstick :nenau

I did. I'm certain its on the front of the block and is the Hitachi one. Trying to convince parts suppliers that these exist is a joke.
The Bosch plug is totally different, but that is the only one that keeps coming up when searching.
I'll pop into a dealership when I get a chance, but my nearest is in Carlisle. Not that convenient.

try Ford as the Mav seemed to fit predominantly Zexel, when my one failed cncfabs was at hand and I could not find one elsware either Rick

where ever it is if you take it out and clean all the metal bits of off it it might be ok.mine ia at the rear and a pig to get to but it collects a lot of crap from the ring gear and particles jump about maybe giving you false readings.also a ohm reading will tell you if faulty.its in the downloads i think.

ford haha are a waste of time, nissan told me there are relatively few mavericks compared to terrano's they dont have any stock. nissan are expensive, there is always the mod using the Audi sensor cost about £12.00 just need to swap plugs over & space the sensor

Zexel ones are on the timing case, easy to get to and same applies re cleaning, yes there is an alternative fitment, as said plug will have to come off and as the alternative is longer it will need a spacer and some sealant but good long term repair, Rick

Hello All

I’ve recently had a little bit of trouble with my Mav 2.7tdi (1997/98), the crank position sensor went AWOL. I took it to my local garage and they ordered a CPS, when it arrived it has the wrong one, i.e. it had a rectangle connector, I guess that means it was a Bosch part rather than the Hitachi one. The garage tried to source the correct part and basically couldn’t find one that wasn’t supplied by Nissan at £300+. So, I said I’d try and source the part, which I did, I used Partsouq, based in the UAE, the CPS cost $83 and I paid £18 import duty, so the correct part, new in its Nissan box for about £90.00.

I ordered the part on a Saturday and it arrived on the following Tuesday.

Thats a very good price for a direct fit :thumbs but im happy with my retro fit mod & if it goes wonky only £12 to replace :augie

Hi Prista,
What was the part number of the cpk you asked for!
Was it the hitachi model.
Mick

Hi Mick, the part number is 259777F400. It's boxed as a Nissan part, I know I have the Hitachi MAF so I assume this is a Hitachi CPS. The connector is oval rather than rectangular.

The supplier is partsouq. They accept paypal:thumbs

if it is mounted on the timing case then yes it is Hitachi/Zexel, nice find I have noted the details, Rick
