my coolant level has dropped down, i topped it up just before xmas to the max line and today when checking it was below min, i cant see any leaks anywhere, any ideas as to why the levels are down?

definatley sounds like the water pump is on its way.
have had to change them on both the petrol and deisel terranos.
took an age for me to find the leak on the petrol motor.had to top the coolant up about every month.this went on for about six months before the leak became noticable.

might also be a idea to check the cap of the overflow bottle , it has a little rubber ring around it , in fact it might be a good idea to check the coolant bottle anyway for little bubbles

anyway richio , you should check the rad levels , not the overflow tank when checking levels ..... but certainly check the overflow for the little rubber ring under the cap , and check for little bubbles in the overflow bottle ( use a torch :thumb2 )

well so far everything is pointing to the water pump, how do i find out what pump i need as there are 2 of them 135mm and 143mm

me thinks i've found the leak, there seems to be fluid coming out where the pipe joins the thermosat housing on the top, so hopefully just needs tightening :D

Hoses do weep after time as the rubber gives a little.

I suggested that in post 2, I had the same problem, the hoses give as the hose clip digs into the rubber hose.
Check them all while you are at it.
Glad you've sorted it :thumb2

this may have been said - but!

The original nissan 'wire' hose clips aren't very good, it might be worth changing them for jubilee clips!

On boats, on critical pipes like water intake hoses which are below the water line the recommendation is to fit 2 on each hose.
However a leaking hose here could mean total loss.

I agree with plank the wire hoses are not as good as proper Jubilee clips, due to the point area of surface contact.
But there are some cheap alternatives that are weak and fail on first tightening.
I find the screwfix ones ok, but those kits from Lidl or Aldi, not good enough.
I just tightened mine and still on original parts hoses and clips 16 years and getting older. But there is no oil on them so this extends their life.

well tightening the pipe seems to have worked, car is warmer aswell now when blowers are on :D
