so, as well as every other leak available to these cars, I also have a coolant leak.

Its very small, and surprise surprise difficult to trace!

As far as I can see, its coming from ABOVE the water pump, between it and the thermostat system.

Does anyone know how this all pieces together? I assume the thermostat system/pipes etc come off the top of the pump? Is there a gasket? I am hoping its as simple as that because that means I don't have to go through a pump change process to fix it....!

anyhoo, to elaborate a little, its a slight leak that seems to come out from above the water pump, runs left as you look at the thermostat area and down under the PS belt and down the engine to the bottom where it drips away.

Im not having to top up the coolant or anything, but I have had to change the thermostat, housing and helicoil two threaded bolt holes for the thermostat housing..!

I thought I had a coolant leak for ages , sometimes had a pool of water under the car , but yet the coolant level was ok :nenau ...... it turned out to be a pipe from the air con condenser , and was a normal thing apparently :nenau

nah, my system is empty just about, and definitely coolant!

yes if you have ac on you will get some water drop out from pipe, normal.

Sounds like a pump if it's very slight could try k seal my pump failed on the bearings so k seal would not work

I assume this is a 2.7? if so there are two paper gaskets to look at. one on the front of the head and one that faces downwards from the same piece of alloy casting that the thermostat is housed in.

I still need to look, but you might be bang on the money. It really does look like its weeping out of the seam between the thermostat block and the part it attaches to, if that makes sense?

I have just hopefully fixed one other leak and if so, im going to tackle this one at the weekend and do what you suggest-remove the lot and replace the gaskets...!
