Mine is a 2001 with the white 16 pin connector and pin 7 wired up. As I have a bluetooth ELM327 dongle for the wife's Fabia, I had a go - Torque on an android phone connects and sees stuff. NDSII lite is free on Android but didn't work for me as I have a v2.1 bluetooth adapter that NDS doesn't like - seems v1.4 is the preferred one for NDS.

So, 16 pin with pin 7 wired, is as RayF said, standard ODb connector even as far back as 2001 - maybe there is a 'use up the parts bin' date range between 2001 and 2004 where there are differing connectors - Mine is a Bosch system, not sure if that is relevant.

Not had the inclination or the time :doh

I'll only continue to try and get it working if Rick carries on work with the Izuzu alternator mod :lol

This project went off the rails a while ago, I've hit a brick wall with my truck, can't get anything at all to read my ECU. It seems if you have 16 pin with pin 7 present then you're stuffed.

I haven't had a test vehicle at my disposal really where I am to test it again but now Grandad has his I'll check to see if his has Pin7 present.

If it doesn't there may be a chance of it working :nenau

Get me a picture uploaded of your 16 pin connector under the fusebox mate if you get chance and upload it in here

Not very clear, I will try and get better ones in daylight.

I had mine read at a local garage. Was a snap-on set up and he was saying they're only any good for 12 to 18 months then the new cars are too advanced for it!
You'd think there'd be loads of second had equipment about then, but nooooooo. :nenau

My 2004 3l T2 has a 16 pin connector with pins 1, 4, 5, 8, 12, 13 and 16 wired. The standard VAG OBD2 lead that I use with our 2005 Golf fits the connector but does not work on my T2.

According to the earlier link http://pinoutguide.com/CarElectronics/nissan_obd2_diag_pinout.shtml this gives me:

1 = CHECK
4 = Chassis ground
5 = Signal ground
8 = Ignition on
12 = SCI TX
13 = SCI RX
16 = +12v storage battery power

This would seem to make sense although I'm not currently aware of what pins 12 and 13 do. Any offers?

It seems to be fairly well documented that the leads that do work on these connectors on Nissan trucks have been wired differently to other OBD2 leads.

SCI RX/TX are are the Serial Consult Interface connections.
This connector WILL work with Consult 1, but will NOT work with OBD.

Just a little update, not sure if it will be of any relevance but I plugged a chaepo eBay ODBII Reader into the truck for a laugh and it said it was connecting to my truck via ISO 9141-2, not heard of that protocol before.

It wouldn't display the codes though, would only tell me they were there and would allow me to clear them :nenau

No further on finding an ECUTalk Alternative for the guys with the 16 Pin Trucks

You should be fine Pete!!!! The Maverick will have the grey 14 PIN plug which you can connect to via CONSULT dongle and ECUTalk software :thumbs

I'll be dabbling with this project again soon as I'm determined to get ECUTalk or NDS II working with the 16 PIN later vehicles!!!

Only seems right as this is now my day job :naughty

My old truck still has ecu in place but does very little now as it's running mech pump. However it would be fun to do a quick plug in .
Have you got a way of monitoring via android ? I've got the plug in bit and usb out.

You can get the Bluetooth 14 PIN readers and use NDS II :nenau

I envy you 14 PIN crew!!!
