Ok , I have been logging my readings on ECUTalk and want to post a log on here ( no pun intended) but it wont let me as it is incompatible. The file is in Microsoft Excel and is 93.4 kb but I have been using open office to work on it as it's easier to work with :nenau:lamer: Anyone got any ideas ?:confused:

Just tried again this time converted it to a PDF and now its too big 195 KB:banghead::lamer:

sounds like your having quite a time of it !!!!!

no good asking me , my computer skills are limited :doh

not had chance to plug mine in today, been faffing around bleeding the brakes
on number 2,
trucks are running sweet now, so soon as i can i will take some reading and post them up,
might even try some of that data logging stuff :eek:

Just found this adapter cable listeon a cinese site - I can't seem to see if it's available to purchase but the pin listing should mean that someone a bit better with a soldering iron than me could make one using the lead that banshee listed and an old 14 pin socket?

Just to keep you guys in the loop on this one, we tried the 16 PIN plug that I brought from eBay on Ogri's truck the weekend when he popped to mine to collect a couple of boxes of Ink Cartridges

It didn't work :doh
 
Looking at that photo again, it's the wrong way round! The lead should have 16 pin male and 14 pin female.

Back to the drawing board...
 
I read some reviews about this OBD module, looks like it's intended for cars with 14 pin connector only - up to year 2000. Using 14 to 16 pin adaptor is an option, but will the module receive all information it can from the car?
Banshee got it all working, but his car is 1996, mine is 2005...

The 14 pin vehicles we have fully working and tested

I took a punt on the 16 pin cable and tested it on Ogri's car when he came to mine to pick up those freebie ink cartridges I was giving away

We didn't have very good results, in fact we had none at all, I did mean to contact rayf to see if he had the pin out data for the 16 pin plugs so we could potentially modify the cable I've brought to work with ECUTalk

This is still a work in progress as I've been super busy with life stuff, it's been a bad month!!!!!!
 
Right RayF to the rescue!!!!!!!!!!!

If I get chance today I'll be ripping the cable open and doing some swapsies with the cables inside based on what pinouts are needed for the 16pin connector which are as below

a) Ground, Pin 5 on 16P --> pin 14 on 14P
b) 12V, Pin 8 on 16P --> pin 7 on 14P
c) RXD, Pin 13 on 16P --> pin 1 on 14P
d) TXD, Pin 12 on 16P --> pin 2 on 14P

The "interface" is just a level translator 0-12 to +/-5V.
The computer serial interface needs to be set: 9600,8,N,1

What a bloke, think we need to send a drink or two his way if we get this working :thumb2
 
after trying the ecu talk software on a several members trucks ,
the readings for the actual injector timing seams to vary with the vehicles water temperature,
ie a colder temperature gives a reading of about 4, where`as a normal operating temperature has been giving a lower reading of about 1, to 0.5

so it seems when comparing the readings the temperature will have to be taken into account

has anybody else had any similar results ?

As well as the engine temperature sensor, there is also a fuel temperature sensor in the IP, this too will probably have some influence on the injector timing.
 
Right, the 16 pin ODB2 cable has been pulled out of the glove box and is currently open on my desk at work, I'm going to grab my 14 pin at lunch and open that too and try and match up the wiring and re-solder the plug as per some wiring instructions from Ray :thumb2
 
Pins pulled, wires snipped and ready to solder when I get home, then I'll be needing a test piggy :sly

If I can get these working with EcuTalk, how many of you woud be interested in buying one from me so I know how many to order
