interesting, this DOES sound like rich's issues doesnt it, but reading back, although I can see NATs mentioned, i cant see if it has been changed/bypassed/reset or anything....!!

If it is NATS 1 (everything done with the key) then PM me and I will look it up but it does mean gaining access to the ecu, if it is NATS 2 with a blip for locking/unlocking then cannot be done, main dealer only, Rick

It's NATS 2 then I have a remote for locking and unlocking!!

well...hang on....how the flip do you get round this then? Cras at home, thinks its been broken into so engages the immobilser. it doesnt make sense that at that stage, you need a main dealer to unlock it? Surely disengaging the alarm/re-engaging does it???

or is it that the key/fob, is programmed to the doors, but not the NATs, and needs that doing?

It's NATS 2 then I have a remote for locking and unlocking!!

If its nats2 the buttons will be on the key didnt come in until latest square headlight models i dont think

Well still no joy, bonnet not been up at all this week as losing faith :nenau, had a guy called mdd (midland diesel diagnostics) booked for thursday as was recommended by another member, but didnt show on thursday and text me to say he would be here friday instead.. didnt turn up friday either and sent a text saying "all work due to be carried out by mdd would be postponed til weds 11th July" so not reliable enough for my liking!! Why don't people / experts want to get involved with these great trucks??

Think I was misunderstood, NATS 2 cannot be over ridden by linking wires etc in order to run engine without a key, NATS 1 can, we did it often with bangers as key start not required, but with a NATS 2 car we had to keep not only the key but all the other stuff in order to run, so if you have a key and it does not allow engine to start due to immobiliser then it will have to go to a main dealer to be re programmed/new key etc, if as your situation above the immobiliser has come into operation, simply inserting the correct key and turning ignition on resets it, does seem to me that it is probable Rich had a damaged key or incorrect key from the start, Rick

Nope no contact!! I've done all I can I think so its either scrappy or massive garage bill, so still undecided of what to do. Thing is my mrs loves this terrano cos of the leather, cd changer, air con and big boot..lol

Well finally she has gone......to the garage anyway!! We've dipped our toes in so now we gotta go all the way and pay for it to be sorted, well hopefully anyway!! Hopefully will start some sort of diagnostics work tomorrow so just got to keep my fingers crossed and see..Wish me luck as might not be able to afford the internet for much longer..

Well the news is there is no news!! Still not started at garage and apparantly there is a clicking noise when turning over..which wasnt there before!! mmm they were supposed to phone me again yesterday but didnt. To be honest dont think they can sort it as been there for 10 days now and no further forward!! Can only see this going one way now straight to scrappy heaven!!

With a problem as deep seated as this it will have to go to a Nissan dealer and get a hook up to the computer that understands the motor, the initial charge for the diagnostics would be cost effective, Rick

Well she is back from garage and doesnt run!! Mechanic says same as solarman get her to nissan for diagnostics but after speaking to them today cannot justify outlaying any more money. Gonna scrap her I think so what she worth?Automatic,New Starter Motor, New exhaust, 2 new front tyres, lovely grey leather interior, no back seat though the 6th and 7th one!! Is a lovely looking truck and maybe someone with a bit more know how and funds can restore her to the road? Cant have anymore sleepless nights over this truck so need her gone ASAP!! Might ebay if no interest. MOT til AUG 18TH but tax now expired! Will post pics if required.

Cant break it here Clivvy, got nowhere to dismantle it! everything is good on it wheels interior, etc.

oh i see.....anothe roption may be to break it, but only for easy stuff. for example, if someone wants the seats (for gods sake dont send them to the scrappers!!), whoever wants them can come, take them out for you-saves stuff laying around etc plus, you get a decent amoutn of money for the stuff then when you weigh it in for scrap, youll probably get the same money!

either that, or sapres or repairs, but, you will get far more money breaking it/scrapping the rest. thats what I had to do with my old Mazda MX6-sold s ton of parts of it including leather interior, then got £130 scrap, in total, just over £500, where as on ebay, it didnt even sell for £360 (i had a limit set)
